It’s funny how when you go on a couple thousand km trip you feel the need to check every nut and bolt on the 4wd, but doing 5000km between service intervals you barely bat an eyelid lol

its because when you are doing those trips you're in the middle of bum fak. and doing the km in a week. but the 5000km could take you a few months and your near home

I put some rags under the oil filter before I remove it to provent oil dribbling down over the starter motor.

Just a quick hint, if your brake fluid is low it's indication of warn brake pads. Unless it wasn't topped up correctly after a bleeding, when the brake fluid was replaced/bleed last time.

when doing the air filter dont forget to check the little can underneath the airfilter stores alot of dust more than people think and alot of people dont know about it

Just a word of caution about the brake fluid. Don't top it up all the way, it drops as the pads & shoes wear and when you replace them the brake fluid spills out and makes a right mess.

When you top up brake fluid always check brake pads as fluid should only drop in level as brake pads wear down

Great update! Pls make a video about cleaning the window mechanism aswell. Yours is going up slow, cleaning it will put less stress on the motor. And I'll learn how to do it from you.

You can also pre fill the fuel filter saves all the pumping

Lol 2nd gear in my 105 hz felt exactly like your 80 before and after the oil change. Makes a huge difference in driveability

I also have an 80 1hdt and know it’s hard getting into second especially on a cold start, gets stuck

dont forget to clean the catch under the main air filter box too, loads of 80 series blokes miss this

Good trick to get transmission drain and filler bung out without it fkn it is grind the round lip off the socket you need makes it heaps easier

Low brake fluid can indicate that your pads are wearing out too. Shouldn’t be leaking so I’d check them out…

I prefer an air filter with rubber flanges similar to the factory ones, should seal better in the metal housing

You could put some plumbers tape around that filler plug that's stripped & that should hold it in, don't over-tighten it.

if you dont run it buy some stuff called fuel doctor from supercheap auto and you put it in your fuel tank its turns water into fuel and its cleans your fuel system and injectors i run it on all my engines such as boat outboards mowers leaf blower petrol and diesel engines good stuff and just add a bit more protection to your car as well as cleaning your fuel system

For the Manuel gear box oil l put in What the NAS CARS USE IN THE USA is the ants pants of oils l was told.

Nearly bought a petrol 80 on the weekend same colour same age. Just realised we would’ve been doing the same jobs as you at the same time 😂 I guess I’ll just live through your vids now 😢

@@deceebs for real. 1fzs have got heaps of power, heaps of torque, and are ultra reliable. 4wders always dismiss them cos of the fuel economy, but they are one of the best 4wd engines ever made. They run for ever

@@landcruiserfan4206 respond really well to a turbo too! i have a mate with a 1hdft avg 16L/100 my 1fz gets about 20L/100 similar load just depends on how you drive it and maitenance

you didnt check your front hub wheel bearings .....or rear wheels bearings they are floating hubs all the way around .....they need constant maintenance also those engines need tappet adjustments or shims replacements .....and timing belt replacement .....??

Love the video, btw both filters can be used without issue, the flow rate and micron rating are the same. Ryco filters generally work to around 15 micron.

@@ashleygargent My Manual says 75w-90, but he used 75w-85, have used Nulon and its seems to be very good, bit thicker than the 90

Probably better of to use a bit of engine oil on the fuel filter seal sometimes diesel can damage the rubber
