Amazing work!!! Just remember to loosen and then tighten ALL of these bolts on those bushes when the vehicle is together, so they relax. You are doing them up tight now before weight is applied, so when weight IS applied, they will all be already twisted up and tight. You want them neutral with the car loaded to its normal weight. On some it wont be a massive issue like the radius arm bushes on the front axle, but the rear radius arm bushes, and especially the top rear axle control arms as they will move a lot. If you don't do this, when you mount the chassis and especially get the engine in, all these bushes will then be under pre-tension, and when wheeling you might twist them too far and they will seperate.
@jbrizz99
@jbrizz99 Жыл бұрын
Good thing to point out however it doesn't apply to polyurethane bushes because the crush tube can twist inside the bush, whereas with rubber it is bonded. All the rear bushes here looked like they were blue polyurethane.

Man, Aussie 4WD kits are so nice. I wish we had this type of industry in my country, but it would be too niché of a market. Terrain tamer that opened up shop (and have the biggest warehouse in the country, not too far from me, 3.6km) has really helped with so.e of the specialist stuff. Though they are on the pricey side, especially since stuff needs to be imported, taxed and they need to make a profit. At first I thought that drop box looked weird, but the clearance blew my mind.

Making good progress mate, looking good! If you want to make the best use of that fish oil, use a thin drill bit, say 3mm, mark it with a piece of masking tape at the thickness of those steel plates you welded on. On the lower forward end drill a hole just through the plate but not through the chassis. Do the same at the high back end. Using a medical syringe, squeeze fish oil in at the lower hole until it comes out of the higher hole. Plug weld the holes and re paint. Best protection you will get under the circumstances. 👍🏼

With those weld on side plates, you could drill and tap a grease nipple or two into the outer plate & pump the void between the chassis & plate with waterproof axle grease so no water can seep in & the metal will remain bright then take the nipples out & plug & seal their holes..
@dustyfarmer
@dustyfarmer Жыл бұрын
Better still, fit a grease nipple into a nut, weld that nut to a piece of plate that you can clamp to the side of the chassis rail plate then drill a tiny hole in the outer plate and place a little O-ring around the hole & G-clamps the grease nipple plate to the chassis & pump the grease in. just make sure the g-clamps doesn't close up the plate gap & make it hard to pump in.

Was gunna mention the same thing about the grease nipples, that’s what most people do but yeah may need to use a slot drill or something so your only drilling the plate.
