I’m happy with a 6BT Cummins swapped GU Patrol. I had a RAM 1500 with the 6.7 Cummins before I migrated to Australia. Born and raised in Canada. It was awesome but there is something about having an old 4WD with heaps of torque and power and just the diesel feel.
@rich7447 Жыл бұрын
The Cummins has always been 2500 and up. The 1,100 lb engine weight is too much for an 8,500 gvw truck.

these things are very popular here in canada(and the us). in fact on our street in middle class working mans neighbourhood, i would say 1/3 of the vehicles are of this type(ford, gm, ram, toyota or nissan). we have a ram like yours(hemi, 8 spd, 4wd) and tow a 4 ton trailer(caravan) toyota and nissan both make full sized trucks like this in canada and the us as well the eco mode is invisible, all you see is a drop in fuel consumption on the dashboard, at 100 kmh consumption will drop from 11l/100 to around 9l/100km, pretty good for a 3000 kg truck!

Id be cautious if its the V6 diesel, it had issues with cam timing slipping, not sure if the problem has been rectified yet but the cam pulleys have no key ways to hold them, the cam that drives the high pressure pump was notorious for the pully slipping its timing. Some engine builders in America were machining dowels into the cam pulleys to stop it happening.

I just went off roading in Moab, Utah USA. I have a 2020 limited ram 1500. I turned off all the safety features, so I thought. Every time I hit a bump, it would beep twice like it was warning me I had drivin off the road. It does the same thing when I go over a speed bump in 2wd. Very annoying when trying to drive on fire roads or bumpy dirt roads. How do you turn this off so it doesn’t beep when I hit a bump? I loved your video as well.

@Dennis Zirobwa These are converted to RHD in Australia. It doesn't come out of the factory RHD. Which makes for significant delays for most new models. A whole new RHD design has to be done. Then to do the conversion the whole thing is disassembled and reassembled with RHD parts.The new gen was supposed to come out in Australia this year. Apparently due to the pandemic production in USA has slowed so it seems there have been delays. I gather the plan was to have the new gen 2500 first. The 1500 to follow later. Presumably we will finally get the new gen 1500 late this year or next year. However I expect they will still keep selling the old gen in parallel to the new gen for a few more years as they are doing in the States.

How’s the load and carrying capacity on one, not much I believe so as a tourer might not carry as much as other utes in the market.
@rbhe3573 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Depending on factory options it is around 1850 pounds (840kg) or more. Tow rating can reach 11500 pounds (5200kg) or more. Also substantially larger than others on the Australian market. "Trucks" like this are daily drivers in the US. It's equally common to see the heavy duty 2500 and 3500 versions from Ram, Chevy and Ford. Those have HUGE payload & towing numbers thanks to 350+kw/1400+nm diesel engines.

Wait until that thing ages. It will break into pieces. Dodge are known for their cheap quality. Yeah the engine may be great but everything else will fall apart before you know it. I've worked on rams before being a mechanic and none of them have lasted more than 2 years without any major faults. One customer even had oil leaks in the first 30,000 kms. All the electronics will break and the wiring will short out over time, oil leaks will arise and the transmissions are so weak that they will also go out. Just a warning to anyone wanting to buy one.

I worry about this. The warranty is only 3 years. Most of the 'normal' utes are now moving from the 5 year standard to 6 or 7 years. Here comes along RAM with just 3 years. Yet it is the RAM that I'd want to hold onto for the long term.
