@@hayloft3834 I slowed it down, frame by framed it, I saw no indicators by either. This is right next to The Middlewoman in Stanmore, but the only thing I can think of is the taxi was looking to do a U-turn or pull over to let out a fare. No idea why the scooter tried to undertake though. Can only think the taxi was doing around 50 (Judging by the cammer) and the scooter wanted to do 60. Regardless lane filtering is illegal over 30kph and not permitted next to parked cars. If it went to the court I would put my money on the scooter being in the wrong, especially if they got the cammers footage Majority of taxi drivers and scooter riders have different ways of driving on roads from where they are from. If you ever been a delivery driver you'll know they don't care, they expect other people around them to watch out for them. I've nearly hit dozens of them because the taxis go "Oh look, a fare, I'll just pull over right now without checking anything" or scooters are on their phones doing Uber/Menulog and just pull out looking for the next pickup with no indication whatsoever

As a rider do not assume that anyone is going to do what they indicate they are doing especially taxis and Ubers, scum of the roads, overtaking them on the left in a lane that has parked cars in it is not the smartest move either, slow down and enjoy the ride.

From someone who has had a lot of accidents with taxis (they've crashed into me so many times *how do you not see a bus ?*), here is my advice. ..... If a taxi driver brakes / slows / indicates / looks down or the head wobbles, EXPECT SOMETHING STUPID ABOUT TO HAPPEN ! A right indicator can mean right / left or going straight. The same goes for a left indicator although with the added possibility of going to mount the kerb or stop sharply with his front pointed in and rear still hanging into the 2nd lane. If the hazard lights go on, then all bets are off. Just stop. Do not pass as he'll probably just accelerate into you no matter what side you are passing on. Second: It's best not to slide between parked cars and a taxi period. Of course there is the rule where you can if the person is indicating right, but I'd still not slip between a taxi anyway as for the other comments I've made. Better to wait than get squished.

I'm a motorcyclist. There is no way I would have put myself in the position of that scooter rider. He was lane splitting between a parked car and the taxi, while traveling at 40kph. Illegal on two counts, on top of a being a stupid move. The taxi driver did not signal and made the assumption there would be no traffic in the left lane because of the parked car. Yes, he did not signal but I can imagine myself doing the same thing. (Note to self: Make sure there are no idiot scooter riders around when changing lanes.) I'll give the taxi a pass on this one.

Nobody mentions the scooter isn’t leaving a 2 second gap to the car in front. …. You’re all jumping on the taxi for being indecisive but the scooter at no point gave themselves time to avoid anything….

you dont give a 2 second gap to a vehicle that is beside you, the taxi is 100% at fault thats why everyone is jumping on the taxi. PS while the scooter was behind the taxi he/she had plenty of time to react

Most likely the taxi's passenger said "stop here!" and the driver just went into instant "indicate, slow, turn, park" mode. But both of them were at fault. The impatient scooter rider was illegally overtaking the taxi on the left, alongside parked cars, and whilst he, and the taxi, were travelling over 30+. So not lane filtering, lane splitting and the taxi driver failed to indicate properly, obviously failed to check his mirrors (otherwise he would have seen the scooter coming up on his left even before it got alongside), and changed lanes suddenly with insufficient warning to other road users.

you cant filter between a lane of parked cars and a lane of traffic - but this isnt filtering anyway. the scooter was overtaking the taxi via the left lane because the taxi indicated a right turn the taxi changed its mind and did an unsafe left lane change into the scooter taxi is blatantly at fault, it failed to give way to a vehicle already in the lane

It isn’t passing on the left is there is a clearly marked lane. The taxi changed lanes without looking for a vehicle in that lane. What the scooter did is perfectly legal and safe so long as driver look before changing lanes. Yes there are parked cars in it. But there is plenty of room for the bike. It is perfectly safe to do - ask every cyclist and motorcyclist - so long as the cars in the right lane don’t drift across, cars don’t open their doors and pedestrians don’t step out from between cars. These things people shouldn’t be doing anyway. People pass parked cars in their lane on every single lane road everywhere. Often passing close to the car.

The scooter rider is 100% at fault. There is no circumstance whatsoever where A scooter rider can line filter between a moving line of traffic and a roll with parked cars. The scooter should’ve stopped behind the taxi and that’s the end of it. Nothing would’ve happened. Had they done that.

The scooter isn't filtering he's using the left hand lane to go around the taxi ... just as a car might ... because the taxi was slowing and indicating it was turning right ... then the taxi abruptly turns left straight into the scooter is it was passing the taxi's A pillar ... taxi may have had a quick squiz in his mirrors but likely the scooter was in the blind spot ... taxi also threw out a left hand indicator to 'cover' his aggressive left hand swerve ... but not good enough ... taxi is clearly at fault. Muppets here that are blaming the scooter need to go for a new license test.

Yeah, if you don't know the area you don't know what you are on about. Between 6-10am it's a lane. After that it is no longer a lane. Therefore the scooter is filtering and filtering at over 30kph next to parked cars

Scooter's fault. Road rule #1 - Whenever a car collides with another object other than another car, it's ALWAYS the other object's fault. Car drives into a Childcare centre, bus stop, tree, primary school, pub, house, shop, pedestrian, cyclist, etc, etc. NEVER the car's fault. Everybody knows that.

As they pass the white parked car the biker is filtering. Filtering past parked cars is not allowed. The taxi then makes an improper lane change without signalling. However at that point there should be no biker beside him. Note that had this happened 5-10 metres further up the road, the biker would have been filtering legally and the taxi would have been clearly at fault.
