Great tournament, great entertainment and very good commentary! Suggestions for Outback Octagon IV: -Obviously, by popular demand, use pseudonyms in the first phase of the tournament. Just give each player a random color every match and call that player "Red", "Blue", "Teal", etc. respectively, and then you have the spreadsheet with the real names printed out as you do the commentary and you can address them with the real names in the stream/video (but the players don't know the real names during the match). -Give a "true random" distribution of civs to players to avoid them getting the same civ many times in a row. -When Wam01 gave the victory to BeastyQT in the second last match, give 2 consolation points to Wam01 for the possibility of winning and for exemplary honor and sportsmanship. -Give warnings to players in near breach of rules DURING and after match, such as trading with live player or suspicion of king donation. Then there will be less controversy when/if penalties are issued. -You are very self-conscious about missing the king-kills. That's OK but I suggest you record the king kills separately (replay the match) and then put a clip of that as an instant replay in the youtube video. Or maybe Cow can record separately (live) on his end. Just an idea and I understand if it's too much work. -We don't care about the Windows update notification sound. It's really not a problem.

The ingame banter in the last 5 games have been top tier. You wouldn't have that with anonymous names. I gotta agree with Drongo, personalizing players, the banter, etc are very important in Outback Octagon. So while anonymous names would improve things competitively (a little bit), it would be detrimental for the entertainment. Drongo intentionally made OO3 with a fairly 'flat' pricepool to somewhat compensate for the randomness of FFAs.

@@cascade_fury Drongo literally ignored the in game chat 99% of the time, also after each game you can know who was who anyways. It is just that a player gets salty and then focuses the player that ruined their match the previous game. Happened with beastyqt after 1st game of finals puppy killed him and then next game he focused him even though anotand was attacking beasty from behind.(he just sent his whole army at puppy and let anotand kill him lmao)

For next tournament consider this changes: 1) Enforce rules, and have yourself to be part of the decisions when there are unclear situations like Corvinus’s one. An if there isn’t a concensus just make a partial penalty (With that he would’ve passed) 2) When going to the semifinals halves the points so the top and bottom players don’t have such a big gap 3) You many times mentioned the issue with Knights, I thought about increasing their pop to somewhere between 1.2-1.5 I don’t know if the game allows that.

Great tournament!! I really enjoyed it, 2 things I think will increase the quality of future tournaments: 1. RNG of Town center spawning is way too high, influence outcome way too much, if there were a way to be less random would be awesome 2. names need to be hidden with the ability to show real names while broadcasting. focusing on players because they are considered to be too weak or too strong is not fair. What happened at 20:30 is lag. The server took a bit to deconflict the information and decide if the king got in the keep or not in time, then decided the cannons shot first.

Great Octagon as ever, Beasty deserves the win in finals, he played extremely well 3 games (including this one where he consolidated his lead in a horrible situation) although we were kinda bored by his malds in early stages ;) Suggestions: A.) just drop the teaming rules down to NO PREGAME TEAMING (easily spotted out, punishment disqualification) and NO SURRENDER OR KING GIVEAWAY (and enforce that one STRICTLY NO MATTER on the situation, so NOONE gets any pass for any tantrums thrown). Have between 1-4 points deduced at max though, depending on umpire though on severity of transgression. IF they team INGAME for ANY REASONS (i.e. Beasty leading the ladder, they all inchat team up right from start) ALL IS OK, cause Beasty READS IT and KNOWS (it's not pregame) B.) definitely KEEP non anonymity, it's all publicly known streamers and we WANT to see them chat away and team up against KNOWN people. It's not about 8 anonymous players who plays best, it's a SOCIAL EXPERIMENT showing moral deficiency ;) C.) IMPORTANT: change point awards between stages, in order to make the semifinal stage more important for all participating players (as is, the top players know they're 99% through and the bottom one know they're 99% out, it's a battle only for the midplaced ones): 1.) let them keep only HALF of their previously obtained points in the group stages, so the gap becomes dangerous for the top players and attainable for the bottom ones 2.) let the ones that qualify in the finals get some points for their semifinal work, either by halving their points again or (imho better) get the 1st placed in SF get 4 bonus points at start, 2nd get 3 bonus points, 3rd-4th get 2 bonus points and 5th-6th 1 bonus point, with 7th and 8th no bonus points. This to incentivize even the qualified players to tryhard and make crazy things in later SF games, in order to get better starting positions in finals.

Great tournament! I have put my suggestions down a few times in the comments but I am doing it one last time. just to be sure :) 1. Give also points for attempting sacred site/wonder victory, so that players do go for it more often. this will lead to more dynamic games and less possibility of a 3 and a half hour game. Something like half the points a player would get from a sacred/wonder victory if they can hold it until the time reaches 5 minutes. This would also certainly result in a better halftime show because of more clips. 2. Increase points for everything in general so that you and your umpires can give points for assists and stuff. My suggestion would be a whole kill to be 5 points. Then if two players are killing a third it would be a 3 - 2 split, with the one getting the kill getting the 3 points. In really extreme situations you could give the player that fights the whole game with another just to get the kill stolen by someone who swooped in the last second gets up to 4 points while the stealer gets 1 point and the extra population (Like in the game where valdemar played abbasid in blue and got nothing for almost killing a player over 20min). This would make swooping in still viable even if you get only 1-2 points since the population is valuable enough to give you better chances for winning the game while making it a bit fairer to people who spawn next to eachother since they get points just for fighting each other. And that is what OO is about. Love people flaming each other and fighting since minute 2 because they are a screen away. Always fun to watch. They should get at least something out of this. 3. Make it anonymous up until the finals. Players cannot know which is who. The easiest way to make it not anonymous for the casting is to have individual nametags in the right colors and to drag and drop them over the ingame player name during your anouncement of the players (like the ingame chat window you can place on the screen. The players need to get a color assigned to them each game of course). This would make it impossible for stronger player to strategically pick on weaker players for ez kills and would stop the possibility of further malding of certain big streamers. Also the narrative of the tournament would still hold sind we know the player names. Bonus: a. maybe let the stronger players roll from the low FFA tier civs while the weaker players roll from the pool of stronger FFA civs? b. If the technology is there, reroll so that players dont get the same civ twice on a given day (Why do you reroll until everyone gets a different civ and not only do 2 rolls: first is which 8 civs are going to be in the game and then second one is which player gets whuch civ?) c. Clearer rules. The thing corvinus was fined for literally happened again in game 39 without punishment. Also talk to the players bofore punishing them. Give them at least a chance to explain themself (according to corvinus, this didnt happen) d. remove the no typing after death from the rules. Players are not allowed to reveal information after they die but they are alowed to flame for ~30-60 sec after they die. Love to watch the chat after a kill. The few times player ignored it it was fun :)

Thank you for casting and creating this wonderful tournament Drongo. I'm not going to watch the end of this one because it's pretty set already. I just want to post a long rant about equal treatment of players and how crucial I think it is for the community and for player and fan enjoyment. So, firstly please be careful with how you joke about a player who was punished so badly that he didn't get in the final even though he is one of the most entertaining players to watch. You mentioned him every game since he was punished with a crazy -8 points. Secondly, please try not to pander to beasty fans all the time and hire judges that umpire without knowing the names. I know beasty fans cry and moan a lot if anything is ever ruled against him and I know they have a loud, popular and powerful voice in the community, so when corvinus does Sus things twice and one of them is against beasty, a witch hunt and calls for a purge and for blood are easy to hear in such a community, but what is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular. I think beasty is a very skilled player and even if it didn't, it wouldn't matter because I'd be wrong, he won and he is number one (I think?) but he is just a player and should be treated equally with all the others. Thirdly beasty is nowhere near as fun to watch as players like corvinus. In fact, I'm not sure how many people like rooting for the underdog, but arrogance and overconfidence are never appealing and they are toxic traits. Please try not to pander to them. I heard in every game the consideration for his fans in your description of beasty. You described his unlucky spawns, you described his unlucky civ picks. He's a grown man, he won, he doesn't need apologists or pandering. Long rant sorry! But yea I think the rules should be more fairly implemented and less concern should be given for egos and fans that scream injustice (yes I see the irony, but I'm calling for fair rulings and consistent administration of rules and punishments, not a one off that had a huge impact on a very skilled and entertaining player) Justice for corvinus.

Is there an expert that can fix my AGe 4 graphics? I have a 3060 and all my grass and fields etc. look really grainy, which is very distracting from the gameplay and even hurts my eyes. I would love to play Age 4, but with this grainy grass and fields, it's almost unplayable. I have all settings set to maximum. You can argue that the points system can be further refined, but can't blame Beasty for knowing the rules & risking what was likely a 9/10 point win at a chance of a 15 point win. If anything my critique would be that 5 games is not enough for an 8 player final given how spawns & civ selection influence each game so much - luck is a big part of FFA but if you can make the result reliant on maximising points on good spawns & knicking a single kill even on a bad spawn then it is less likely to be just 'who spawns away from other people the most in 5 games wins'. In fairness to the result here, Beasty had a very strong spawn in one game out of the 5 and still dominated in terms of points.
