the most underrated contemporary musician. he is truly one of the greatest.

His poetry and musical production are great! For a long time I heard him on the local hipster radio station radio and thought "Is this some weird christian comedy rock group" but once I gave him a chance I was hooked. If you like this kind of thing an even more underrated muscician, who IMO is prolly the most talented folk-alt-experimental rock artist alive is Weyes Blood. She sings the backing vocals on Gods Favorite Customer. She also wrote one of the best albums of all time in 2019 and there is no sign shes slowing down.

Dude he’s been on letterman. He’s playing a sold out crowd of at least 10 something… he ghostwrites songs for practically every last giant mainstream artist(even lil Wayne for fuck’s sake!) he’s indie, because he doesn’t want to be able to walk down the street like a regular person, not to mention an independent deal gives you 50% of thier earnings as opposed to a major that gets like 15 tops… he’s absolutely brilliant in everyway… just saying, not starting an argument, I’ve got shit to do, but he is far from underrated. Austin city limits is one of the biggest festivals in America by the way… Peace and love it’s all good there’s no tone of voice so I want it to be explicitly clear that I’m not coming at you sideways

There’s typos in there such as can’t walk down the street when I meant can walk down the street and 10 when I meant 10,000… Because much like father Misty or another night on the street crosseyed and babbling lol

@@elevenelevenentertainment7814 I agree. Underrated is the laziest and stupidest YT compliment there is.

saw them the day after this concert in Tulsa. He was sick and on steroids but still gave it his all. A spectacular act with splendid candour

adamnfoool I was there too. I’ve seen FJM three times now (four if you count Fleet Foxes), and his Tulsa show was by far the best I’ve seen him. Amazing that he still pulled it off

WOW! Cannot believe this is the same J. Tillman I saw at One Eyed Jacks, in New Orleans back in 2011.... Father John Misty is without a doubt - the New Revelation!

FJM's guitar is de-tuned a whole step, if you're wondering... That B7 to A chord change (or to A7 as the 2nd guitar player implies) is interesting... What a set of pipes he has. Whoa, so stunning. Keyboard overplayed so I never once heard the 'brass' instruments, I'll never understand a keyboardist making his keyboard sound like 'strings' when there are string players! Seeing an 'orchestra' and hearing one are 2 differenet things, I guess. But, beautiful!
@joshuamiller1257 жыл бұрын
Try a better pair of headphones/speakers...the mix is not that bad. There are several different keyboards playing different synth sounds during that epic wall of sound. The brass and strings still come through fairly separate, but blend with everything else that's going on.

The problem with musicians, arrogant musicians, arrogant musicians judging the art of their superiors while listening to youtube instead of writing, recording, and performing, is they can't just sit back, shut up, and enjoy. First they pick every single note, and transition, apart. THEN they think their concept and practical application of said concept is somehow superior. All while comfortably sitting in their living room behind a keyboard rather than sitting in the studio, or on stage, creating performing, and recording magic. Did I miss your tour, or album? AND NO! NO ONE WAS WONDERING! FUCKEN ARROGENT PRICK!

To write this song at 35 or whatever he was is just proof that some folks just transcend time. Or maybe that life just brutalizes some of us early on a psychological level. Maybe a little of both
