I owned a similar 327 Corvette powered Austin’s Healy back in the ‘70’s, never lost a race. It was a Blast to drive. My Ford 289 powered Sunbeam Tiger is fun but will never replace the Healey place in my heart!

I can understand 😌 It was a lot of fun.

I remember one in Indiana back in mid 60s, called the "Healey Monster". Had a 301 Chevy, and was the National 1/4 mile record holder. As I recall, it had a B&M Hydrostick transmission. Enjoyed this presentation.

My 59 came to me with a 289" Ford and Ford 4 speed. Splines were worn out on wire wheels and had Buick 24" rims. When you nailed the throttle engine would twist and alternator fins would break..took the hood off! Glass pack mufflers fit outside the frame..watch your feet when hot. It was a beast but was too light in the front and was squirrely on curvey mountain roads. Saw it seven years ago at the Pleasanton car show.... I owned it in the late sixties...

Dont believe what some folk say , old man Healey loved his V8 's his great friend Carrol Shelby wanted him to make a V8 one, but needs must and had to get into bed with Austin. I have a 100-4 with a 383 stroker Chevy we built back in the nineties with a 6 speed Richmond box, 455 bhp and 450 torque . It has all Jaguar suspension so independant rear end and discs all round. We widened the car 4 inches to mainly accomodate the Jag rear, so no flared arches needed or wheels sticking past body line. Body is all aluminium like the 110s, so is very light. The matt silver gives it a nice period look like this one which may I say seems to be well put together and not a dangerous rattle trap like some I have seen, so yes, very nice, well done.. Cheers from England.........

I owned and restored a 59/3000 Mk1 back in the late 70's. I wrote to Rover and asked them if they would be interested in supplying the excellent Rover 3500 V8 for a a big Healey 3000 new production line. And there answer was affirmative. My big Healey was sold by my father behind my back to the buyer of his beautiful house up in Northumberland and that killed that project idea.

@CarsofSwedenlive Жыл бұрын
It didn't feel that hot to be honest, but might be a different story stuck in traffic somewhere.
