Austin Reaves Scores 45 Points, the Lakers (without LeBron, Luka) Beat Pacers 124-117

No LeBron, No Luka, no problem. the Lakers win again, behind a huge game from Austin Reaves.
With the shorthanded Lakers waiting one more game before the hopeful debuts of Luka Doncic and Mark Williams, plus the return of LeBron James to the lineup after missing Saturday's contest with a sore ankle, a "next man/men" up mentality would be required in order to beat an Indiana Pacers team that's been smoking hot of late, even on the road. No worries. Austin Reaves took over for the Lakers, putting up a career-high 45 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists. Rui Hachimura scored 24 points on his 27th birthday. And from there, all the role players not expected to provide counting stats galore found ways to pitch in.
In the end, a win that keeps the Lakers climbing up the standings, but also continues a recent trend of top-to-bottom contributions from the entire rotation. Good stuff, indeed!

Despite Austin having a poor shooting game against the Warriors the other night, he STILL gave the Lakers 23 big points to back up LeBron’s 42 point outburst in that game. Austin did that by drawing a ton of fouls against the Warriors, which got him to the free throw line where he made a blistering 15 out of 16 points and kept the Warriors at bay in the 2nd half.🤷🏽‍♂️ You see, that’s the mark of a good/great player - even when he’s not at his best - he’s STILL good enough to beat you. That’s what Austin Reaves is all about. Even when Austin doesn’t have the torch going like he did against the Pacers, he’s STILL plenty good enough to burn your team’s ass and he did that against the Warriors.

If the issue was something that glaringly bad for a standard physical, unless the Hornets were just counting on Pelinka being so thirsty for Williams not to care, it’s hard to think they would have just counted on the Lakers to simply miss whatever this is. I’m wondering if it’s actually something the Hornets didn’t know about, or at least the full extent of whatever this is.
