The story is that JDF wanted out and Shuki Levy approached Austin to be Gold Ranger as well as Red Turbo starting with the movie. But Austin told him he preferred to be the bad guy. So, instead of Tommy being the one to leave, Rocky was (Steve Cardenas wanted to leave too). And they got Blake Foster from a movie Shuki was doing and decided to go after the Beetleborg fans with an 11 year old ranger. Almost killed the franchise.

See Skull reading Austin's caravan? He said AUSTIN, JASON. And then he said "Austin St. John. " That's because ASJ is not his name, his real name is Jason Geiger. JDF talked about that and said that Austin change his name, in the franchise there was 3 Jasons, him, Austin and Skull! Aparently JDF didn't like that cause Austin one day change his name on his door and when JDF called him "Jason", he demand to JDF to be called Austin. No actually Austin wasnt going to be a background ranger before the episode "Transfer of Power" he along with Walter and Thuy (RIP) left due to discrepancies between the producers due to non-union and salary arrangements, so they brought back JDF's character Tommy to be the white ranger hence if you listen to Austin's character Jason in transfer of power its a different voice, who is actually one of the producers giving the voice over.

This takes me back so far to the 90's there was something different feeling in the air we breathed back than i swear to god. i remember being a kid and teenager watching the first i would say 5 ish seasons of the power rangers. when power rangers in space came out the vibe was not there for me to much anymore but my generation was the very first season of the power rangers up to about season 3 where they kept most of the same cast members so its normal for me to kind of lose interest in power rangers at that time. my favourites were tommy and jason and as a kid thats kind of when i started to see that some things rise and some things fall.... to me no one can replace the original cast of power rangers. just like the pokemon gameboy games red, blue and yellow were the very first games and i loved those games i played them like it was a religion... than pokemon silver comes out, than another pokemon game and next thing you know you have like 20 different red power rangers and 2000 different pokemon so it sucks that companies milk the franchise name to make cash like that instead of putting quality out. i was a pretty active kid in decent shape and most kids and most everyone in my grade school to highschool was either skinny or average there were not to many big over weight people... not making fun of anyone its just the new normal people are out of shape more than ever. i look back on austin here and there was just a different feeling in the air... the air was cleaner, the trees and sun seemed more sunny and bright and people were not so fake with there cell phones back in the time when we had phones just to call people and not take the internet everywhere and film people who just got in a car crash or something or fight instead of actually going and helping them out.... i feel fortunate to have a certain amount of character remembering the older days because really it wasnt as fake and negative as things are after i would say 2010 and on? im sitting here shaking my head because i cant find the exact word i want to say but things sure as hell changed and i miss these days. these guys were actual role models growing up. takes a certain type of person to like austin and the others to make a TV show like this and really warp it into one of THEE most popular things anyone has ever seen. like it fealt like the first few seasons of the power rangers was meant to be. Austin, jason david frank, walter jones etc they all had the martial arts back ground which i think is really cool because back than it was looked at something as to defend yourself and respectful instead of how martial arts is looked at now a days with the UFC, MMA organizations and people being born into basically a blood sport out to hurt each other and the kids growing up now are more inclined to learn to fist fight and hurt each other......the respect and all around good people do not feel like there in place in todays day and age.... if a kid wants to learn martial arts they learn take downs and maybe ju jitzu to beat up somenody or beat there ass.....ive got the best of both worlds so for the first generation of power rangers to have a healthy look and body weight, know the martial arts even when basically nobody knew about martial arts or atleast the popularity was extremley small in comparison to todays age and how these guys carried themselves as posative people AND THEY WERE ONLY AGES OF 17 - 20 YEARS OLD ! These guys were really talented and considering how everything fell into place like this it was really awsome...... man i wish i could go back i really do.
