Austin ISD fired a teacher after she posted a viral TikTok video that caused some controversy for the district earlier this year. She appealed her termination and the "Board of Trustees" has made a decision. FOX's Jessica Rivera has more as the district decided to uphold her termination.

Most employers will terminate an employee for airing their opinions on social media if those posts bring any embarrassment to the company or the supervision. Not just a government job. Here's what I tell my friends and family. Don't post anything on social media. It can come back and haunt you forever.

When social media and Facebook were shiny and new, a co-worker regularly posted about her negative interactions with our customers. Our IT dude warned her (and everyone else) not to post stuff like that, and she was eventually terminated. When my boss and I went through her emails, there were *hundreds* of non-work related garbage from online shopping sites and junk notifications she'd signed up for using the company's computer, revealing why she wasn't getting her assigned work done on time. All this to reiterate what's already been said: RTFM!

Let's get this straight. Your take on the First Amendment misses the mark. In public schools, the district is a government entity. In most cases, when you apply to a school district, during your interview the Administrators are looking at your grades, your studies, background, teaching style and so on. They want to make sure that you are a good match to their program. When you are hired, you develop your education plan in accordance to the school district's guidelines. The principal of the school will go over this with you. 1. She deviated from her teaching plan. 2. She took to social media mocking her bosses and the school district. 3. Ignored the write ups and continued with her agenda. This teacher pushed her own agenda. I'm 63 y/o. Back in the day, there was a strict curriculum of what was to be taught. For example, it was Columbus, and only Columbus who discovered America. However, the best teachers I ever had were the ones who would teach the curriculum but encourage their students to seek out more information. To go to the library. To do research. And fortunately, my father would encourage us kids to question what we were being taught to expand our knowledge. For example, he asked me, "When Columbus discovered America, who did he encounter? You don't discuss what is going on between the schools administration meetings to the public. What goes on at s meeting is private matter not to be aired to the whole world. I don't think the board was wrong in letting her go, she could have caused alot of unwanted troubles for the school and students. She tried to tarnish the school's reputation and was relieved of her job.

Schools districts have a lot to hide especially when some act as gang in public schools as I'm banned from earning a living from Miami Dade county public schools when they committed all the crimes and now I'm in NYC lounging for life planning for the world's educational system intelligence and wealth that belongs to a few lucky Girls mainly my girl students in Miami Dade county public schools 😊😅❤ My principal/administration was at the time affiliated with criminal Bigots group in Miami Dade county public schools! This was 2014 and Lawyers wouldn't accept 20 to 50 thousand dollars to file a lawsuit against Miami Dade county public schools!😂😊❤

Personnel issues are generally not to be discussed by either party. If they had posted video(s) to a public server discussing her job performance, she would have probable grounds to sue. Well, she posted a video about her employer and how they handled a personnel situation and they successfully fired her. Keeping personnel issues confidential goes both ways.

There’s a great essay out there somewhere called “Let’s Face It.” It discusses the employer employee relationship. In summary, the idea is, let’s face it, as an employee, your number one responsibility is to please your boss. If you can’t, go find another job or the employer will force you to.
