Hi Austin, My sis n I watched this series after watching your review and score.Though the premise of the show is similar to 'Glitch', we felt, characters in 'Katla' are not realistic and we couldn't root for any of the characters.Don't you think 88% is too high?🙂 Picturization is good, apart from that nothing stands out.

I like these kinds of shows but I was getting frustrated. Some of the conversations are unrealistic to me. It rly bothered me that none of people that came back seemed to care where they were. Asa for example if I had been missing for a year I would wonder where the hell I was. That Thor just jumped right back in with young Gunderhild was weird to me. Grima was the only one that was like I need to know what happened and I was like yes finally. She was the only one who behaved realistically to me. I just feel like that’s not how things would go down of this rly happened. To many people shrugging it off and not enough questions asked.

Grima got on my nerves. She kept hiding from her husband when the duplicate her came. Most of the characters were acting dumb the entire show.

If you haven't finished the series, don't read further (Spoiler alert): The clones are not carbon copies of the people. They are some kind of manifestations of memories and/or emotions of the people involved. That's why the clones react strangely to everything and don't seem to recognize or care about the original nor the time difference. The people involved, like Thor and Gisli and Rakel at first, seem to embrace their deepest desires when presented with them instead of questioning them, which may infuriate the viewer but makes sense for the story.

Great non-spoiler review. Please drop a spoiler review. Really surprised by the show. Similar premise to the Australian show Glitch, which is great also (three complete seasons of 6 episodes each). But this show goes in a different direction but has a lot of the moral choices we saw in Glitch. The ending was fantastic and I loved the last shot of the finale with what could happen in season two, which I’m hoping for. I was also happy with the English overdubs most of which was provided by the original actors (I’m not sure why other foreign shows don’t do this as it helps with keeping you in the show and doesn’t sound corny like some overdubbing does).

Similar to other shows over the years where dead returns like living people but in Katla some of the living also get a clone of their own from a volcano. Good story but often told a little bit to slow who just want you to scream, DO SOMETHING in a environment who is covered in grey ashes from the volcano. But when the Islandic people have a similar Nordic temper like me from Sweden in the story i do understand it.
@micaelagonzalez713 жыл бұрын
This is the third Icelandic show I watch and I'm falling in love with their tv, honestly. And their landscapes, of course. The idea behind the volcano people was not exactly original, but, to me, it didn't fall in too common places either. I liked it a lot. Every episode I found myself trying to find out what the substitutes had in common, and by the second to last episode I had an epiphany and figured it out and was so happy to be proven right by the end because that almost never happens XD My favorite slow-burn is Dark. Spoiler review for discussion!

I disagree, actually. I love a good slow burn, but this was just sleep inducing. We all thought it was boring, and the characters all acted so irrationally it was hard to feel like the world was real. Literally no humans act that way (and I'm speaking of the humans). I also thought there was almost no decent payoff at the end, and the message we're left with about mental health is really abysmal. Definitely in my bottom group of shows for the year
