@@carlosdossantos917 muy point is that anyone who sings well, sings well while sitting. You lose a bit of control of the abdominals, true, but not what makes her phenomenal

The first time I heard her, I was astounded that there was such a clear recording of young Sarah Vaughan. I don’t think there is a higher compliment than that. Cecil is a phenomenal talent and I pray I get to see her sing live some day.
@gjudd2 жыл бұрын
sure hope your prayers have been answered. Having had that immense pleasure several times now, I can die fulfilled 😉. Just a bonus she happened to sing a wonderful, aptly chosen Fran Landesmann standard here. BTW, her latest recording is... well, you can probably guess how stirring it is. A truly astounding talent. Oh, & Aaron Diehl - and Lawrence Leathers (RIP) - neither chopped liver!

Unphased by that alarm going off. "No biggie... I'll just carry on briskly with my tune." - I love that kind of spirit! Note that nobody is talking over her... THAT is the power to command a room even when you're not given the spotlight first. You can tell she's got a high octane voice given the fact that this is done while folded up and seated. This is my first exposure to this lady, but rest assured... it won't be my last.

Five years on, and I keep coming back for more... Aaron Diehl (the pianist) has a way of transporting you to another world, his world. Cecil, still haven't figured how she pulls this off everytime, with the inflections in her voice. It's almost like she's singing and talking at the same time. The duo is a sight to behold. This recording was ostensibly made in heaven. Thanks to whomever captured this moment.
