Just selling stuff without bothering removing/unlinking the accounts from the devices is borderline criminal. Also having prices borderline more expensive than other marketplaces or even actual stores makes me think like they pick stuff from various sellers online (ebay/facebook or whatever) and just sell them with a small bump in price for a profit. In general this screams scam where they target random people surfing TikTok or whatever that think the Macbook they are buying for $300 is the same as the one Apple sells for $1000.
@CaseyDplays6 ай бұрын
This is a HUGE issue with managed Apple devices. The companies wipe the device and sell it but forget to remove the remote management, whoever gets the device doesn't know it's a managed device unless they try to set up a new user. So resellers open it up turn it and see it's ready (supposedly) for a new user and then sell it. Then the person who bought it gets stuck with a brick because they don't have any way to remove it from a managed device system. The ONLY way to remove it is for the original owners that managed the device to go into their accounts and remove it as a managed device. As you can guess, most school IT and office IT departments aren't going to bother helping you with that. Especially since they can't confirm you bought it legit and aren't just trying to unlock one of their many computers to resell. They can't know if that one has been sold or not. Officially, they are supposed to remove any device they sell from their managed account before selling them, but they don't think of that when they wipe them.

We have iPads on our schools mdm and before selling or disposing we have to contact our supplier to remove the serials from MDM. It basically hits Apple for activation then gets redirected to our schools devices. Once removed they activate as normal.

Hey Austin I think you team even failed to mention @ 7:19 that the iPad is legit $250 at Target then been on and off sale at $250 for about a year now, so who will stop them to just buy it from Target or Amazon at $250 then resell it for $$310…

8:08 used isn’t the worst they have, used and clearance are different, clearance is worse then used, so this MacBook is the 2nd worst

If the MacBook is MDM locked then most likely is was stolen. I know as I managed laptops with an MDM. We remove it before it is sold. But also that is really bad on Strictly Apple showing they don’t inspect products

I used to work at a big repair and refurbished company and that phone is a C grade. The lowest we had was D, which meant it was mostly for parts. Descending quality from grade A, B, C, D. Grade A was basically a new phone.

12:47 I bought two brand new iphone 12s, for a total of $150 each. No shady website, it was through a phone carrier, no subscription, pre paid. Checking a few carriers just now, a few of them are still selling them new for as low as $200

A lot of these tech places get large quantities of laptops from e-waste facilities. The e-waste facilities receive old laptops in lots from schools to be "recycled" but get sold for profit. Sometimes these places when setting up and cleaning the device forget to remove the school lock. The schools have a password for all the laptops to keep kids out of certain areas such as BIOS or certain websites.

Even though your not using your name. But putting a big order might give something away. It might be a pain but maybe a few smaller orders then that way you could also see if they're consistent with their packaging

I have a 9th gen iPad and for less than the price of the Strictly Apple refurbed one, you can get a new iPad 9 with 256GB if you really want it on sale. Seeing those AirPods Max in that shape with that price was incredibly sad. Again, you can find new ones on sale for less than the price of the refurbed one. I never seen headphones that bad in shape and I daily headphones for half my life.

I bypassed the school administrator screen by completely wiping the drive through terminal on my iMac Late 2009 that I got from the storage unit at work, but not sure if it’ll work in newer models

10:41 I have experienced this before. Good news is that it's easily fixable, and it's not ENTIRELY sketchy. So, Strictly Apple is a reseller of old computers from Pasco County Schools. I am typing this on an old 2013 iMac, that had the same thing with Chicago Public Schools. I bought it from a shop out in the Chicago Suburbs. I just had to call CPS, get in touch with their tech support, and they removed the Remote Management. Kind of a hassle, but it wasn't difficult.

Also; to me, open box should mean I get the box. Even if it’s destroyed or missing a booklet. Open box means it was bought, opened and returned. I should still get at least the box and the cord it comes with.
