Redundancies are built in to just about every software out there. If there were only one way to get to something, I’d imagine it would be quite frustrating and inconvenient for most. Either way, I get your point. There can be too much redundancy. Thankfully with iOS 18, Apple has made it so that you can change the lock screen buttons or get rid of them entirely.

But the writing tools, email/notification/text summarization, and even making an image from a sketch are actually at least possibly useful to people other than kids. Not saying it's refined (or good), but I wouldn't say those things are necessarily intended as kids play.

Not kids play. Data mining and profiling for adverisement. Your PC's name is public. You may be still a private person behind PC name, but your online behaviour will be clear for ad companies in an AI generated report. It doesn't have to collect your data as apple says, to produce its own data, that will be based on it. Not enough people read books these days. They train your imagination. ;)

The Apple Intelligence feature I look forward to the most is the ability to type, for example, the name of a family member along with a context like "riding a horse" or "opening gifts," and have it show me the photos or videos that match that description. Additionally, I’d love for it to create videos when I request something like “family bike rides over the years” and find all the relevant photos and clips for that theme. Also, I really hope the duplicate detection feature improves significantly.

The visual intelligence thing is huge when you're in a country whose language you don't know. I have a Pixel and when I was on vacation in Japan Gemini was a huge help in figuring out ingredients and stuff.

I've 15 Pro for more than a year now, the only thing where it feels I've upgraded is Camera - Front drastically & Back okayishly (more in video) when compared to my 2.5 year old primary phone, a 6x cheaper Realme. I've the dev betas too in this and every one of those features are completely useless, I often remove objects from photos and Google Photos is a way superior app in that, with both Magic Cleaner and AI removal. I've still not switched to my iPhone as my primary camera and I use it only for taking photos, only, otherwise, it has highly dumb, unintuitive and unproductive UI & UX, just to be quirky and different, when it reality, it is to make it harder for people to switch. Top notch hardware though.

@@SheepleDestroyer You do not have this different section to navigate it is all in one page... on the top are all your images, if you scroll up you navigate into your history.. if you scroll down you can interact into "sections" which you can modify as you need/ use, in my case I only setup folders all other components get removed. So finally I have a minimalistic overview with images on top and folder below

It's much easier and faster now this way. Before I had to click to go back and out of the photos page to get to the different sections and menues. Now it's just a simple swipe up or down.

Chat GPT on the iPhone is THE feature that has kept me from upgrading. Apple Intelligence doesn't even move the interest needle. It's finally happened where I get the same level of excitement for new tech as I would a new dishwasher. Also, adding more RAM to their products to accommodate all the useless AI systems running in the background is only a visual upgrade to appease tech reviewers, and naive consumers.

It’s more that I am not going to spend another thousand dollars to get a device that is hardly any different than my current one and subsequently disable the device’s flagship feature. At that point, I might as well burn money. I love apple. I love their products. But lately it has been miss after miss. I personally think it’s time to change leadership, but that’s just me.
