Just in case if anyone was wondering, the best strat to max out the EVs (for competitive especially) would be to use the 25 vitamins (increase to 250) then use either 2 wings matching the specific stat or battle 2 pokemon that increase the stat by one, maxing it out to 252. Then using the last vitamin will max out the third stat, optimizing the pokemon. With the strategy listed in the video, 2 points in each of the main EVs are missed which won't really change anything for non-competitive gameplay, but when playing a competitive match, it could be the difference between a win and a loss.

I was literally about to make this same exact comment, the way he did it in the video is not exactly the best way to get the most out of the EVs. in the case of speed for example missing out on 4 evs could lead to being one point slower which means you miss out on potential speed ties with pokemon of the same exact base speed tier. this is extremely important.

Maximilian Brunner No the max is 255.. but 255 is not divisible by 4 (4evs = 1 stat point). So typically, most spreads in competitive will be 252 / 252 then the remaining 4 in whichever stat which will leave 2 useless evs that don’t make a difference. The method mentioned in the above comment allows you to hit 252 in any 2 given stats as opposed to 255. then use 4/6 of the last remaining evs to boost a stat by 1 point. In the method mentioned in the video he’s using 25 vitamins per stat, which only equals 250 evs and is not divisible by 4. Meaning in a stat like speed you could end up 1 point slower, like I said this could lead to being outsped 100% of the time by Pokémon with the same exact base speed tier and ultimately could lead to losing what could / should / would be a game deciding speed tie. EDIT: Hopefully this makes sense. If not let me know and I can try to elaborate on it a bit more clear 😭 EDIT 2: I apologize, technically your statement is not wrong but you get what I’m saying lol.

3:24 is incorrect. starting in sun and moon, EV spread caps at 252. you can for instance, use 26 vitamins or send a pokemon with a power item to train for that item's improved EV yield in a pokejob seminar for a whole day and it will max out at 252, there will be no waste of points.

I remember the amount of grinding in the old gens, all the abras, eggs dittos, macho brace and millions of hours of pokerus hunting, the notepads, calculators, instant ramen, don't even get me started with lucky eggs, catching and training 6 lvl 100 blisseys or whatever EV appropriate pokemon u wanted from hidden bases. Kinda sucked u could only do it once a day so u would need to have had multiple bases set up in overworld. In Omega Ruby there was an island that you had to Dive to get to that had six hidden base spots on it. I had gotten a series of hidden base codes for all six spots on the island that were from Japanese Players that did Double Battle Rules with 4 level 100 Blissey, all holding Toxic Orbs with no offensive moves. This plus Lucky Egg was my XP farm for team building back then. It's an old habit. I still bought all the power items for BP, because they'll impact your pokemon on Pokejobs. A whole day seminar with a hold item equals 252 EVs in that stat. Don't have to spend a penny.

There is a slight mistake here: since Generation VI (X&Y), the maximum amount of EVs in a stat is set to 252 instead of 255. And that's pretty nice because when you max 2 stats you still have 4 (actually 6, but whatever) EVs to put in a third stat. Ok, that's not much, but hey, that's something.

One thing I found that helps show the EV's on the status screen is if you invert the system colour. Non maxed turns a deep blue, and maxed becomes almost black. It also helps that the entire screen is inverted so you're measuring the EV's and IVs against a grey backdrop on a black screen

Respectfully, you're a bit off from about 6:30 - 6:45. Since XY, the EV cap for a single stat is 252. This was a very welcomed change in my opinion, since as you discussed, there was never any reason to go above 252 in any stat because every 4 EVs award 1 stat point at level 100. As an example, say you want an EV spread of 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 Defense for a Gyarados. Giving the Gyarados 26 Protein, then 26 Carbos, then 1 Iron will achieve this spread. It is important to note Gyarados will actually receive 6 Defense EVs from the 1 Iron before the 510 total EV cap is hit, it will just gain the benefit of the first 4. However, if you give the Gyarados 26 Protein, then 1 Iron, you'll find you can only give it 25 Carbos, and that the Gyarados can now only receive 248 Speed EVs because the full 10 Defense EVs provided by the Iron were counted toward the 510 total EV cap. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if you have covered this but if you give a pokemon a power item and send it off to the academy it gets 256 evs in that stat or 192 in the power item stat and 96 in the class stat if you send it to a different academy lesson than the power item. This majorly cuts down the time needed to send pokemon off for ev training to just "one day".

@@maxislas3141 Yes, but if you don't want to spend those 20K for just 4 evs you can also go battle a couple of pkms that give you points in that stat. Be careful not having other pokemons in your party cuz if they are not maxed they'll also get those evs.

Also I felt I should bring up an additional tip, the power items you can buy in Hammerlocke for BP increase the EVs earned by 4 times, and also impact gains from Pokejobs. So if you can get a full set of the Power Items, equip your pokemon properly before sending them on a whole day pokejob, you can get all 252 EVs, in one stat, with one Seminar. So if for some reason you are struggling with Pokedollars, you don't have to buy a single vitamin with this method.

Griphter no less of a choice. It's never a good thing to limit the choice people have. Its basically like say hey I made it balanced you can only use one pokemon and its charizard. Look I won't deny that pokemon had alot of people using the same pokemon. But removing them doesn't really make it better if they had a better more diverse pool of pokemon then maybe people would use different ones of the fire types in the game most have 1 of these 3 abilities flamebody, flash fire or white smoke. They don't diversify. Instead they have over simplified it. With this system there is still going to be that same set up with the same pokemon being used and if in a year of play it turns out I'm wrong I'll apologize and take that back. But Im confident that it isn't going to solve the problem and if anything it will be worse. The more complex things get the more out of the box solutions you can make cutting those options makes things less interesting. Edit by same pokemon used I don't mean older pokemon I mean that just like in other formats there will be a clear and definitive best team of pokemon that will flood the meta.

Just like I commented on the other video that included this method, there are lots of other things that can be done with the Den Cycling 24hrs, like Watt Vendor Inventory, Berry Trees, Stow-On-Side Street Vendor Brothers, etc. This method could also be used to change what the watts vendors' inventory is. If you use the den to push the day forward once and cycle the Pokemon inside the den, the Watt Vendors' inventory changes to that day's. The Daycare Watts Vendor on 12/01/2019 has Quick Balls for me every time. You can use this to cycle TRs or particular balls you want. Luxury Balls are at that same vendor on 11/24/2019 or 12/24/2019. This "den cycling" also respawns berry trees if you want to farm those for the -10 EV berries. I personally used the Ditto Den to do the Watts and Money grind method since it's right by a Watts Vendor.

Ivs go from 0-31. Pokemon are born with IVs its their genes. They cant be altered. Higher IV means higher stats. EVs are on a multiple of 4. Every 4 EVs gives 1 stat point. Every new pokemon starts with 0 EVs and you can distribute them how you want via killing the right things or using the right items. A pokemon can only have 510 EVs total spread across its stats and then it will not gain anymore EVs at all in any stat. A stat can only have 252 EV's and trying to raise it above that is impossible. So most of the time you pick 2 stats. Such as speed and attack. Give 252 to each. Attack 252 Speed 252. Total = 504. 6 EVs are left and you can throw them into any other stat you want. Although 2 of those EVs are always useless as 4 doea not go into 6 Side note: previously the max EVs in a stat was 255 not 252... however 252 is the max benefit you can get as 255 is not a multiple of 4 there was no difference between 252 and 255.

Drednaw is one of the worst raids, especially if you get more than one of the actually garbage npc allies, because he loves to spam swords dance while he's shielded. I'd honestly just save before raid, then reset immediately if you get two or three bad npcs (togepi/eevee/magikrap/weak to drednaw/etc.) One bad npc can be worked past, but two is unlikely to win, and three is actually unwinnable. Best you can do is reset until only one bad ally, then dmax and hope for the best.

Some corrections, EVs do max out at 252, not 255. You can feed a Pokemon 26 of the same two vitamins to max them both out at 252, and then feed them one of another vitamin to get the remaining points in another stat. Feeding them only 25 will make those stats one lower than maximum, which is a huge deal if you're EVing into their Speed stat, because being even 1 point lower means you're always going to attack slower than another Pokemon of the same base speed but with maxed out Speed. You can see that his Corviknight gained 2 points in HP instead of only 1, which means its attack and speed are both 1 point below their maximum. Second, there is still value in doing the older method of EV training of finding specific Pokemon that raise specific EVs. Since vitamins can only increase EVs by 10, you can't build more nuanced EV spreads, which are important when getting into Pokemon more competitively. So if you want to have a spread like 248 HP / 208 Special Defense / 52 Speed, you can still use 24 HP Up, 20 Zinc, and 5 Carbos to really speed up the process (which you couldn't in older games), but you'd need to go out to the wild and battle specific Pokemon to get those final 8 points in HP, 8 points in SpD, and 2 points in Speed. Edit: There are also Feather items (Health, Muscle, Resist, Genius, Clever, and Swift) that you can use on Pokemon to increase a single EV by 1, but these can't be bought, they only spawn every day on the bridges to route 5 and Motostoke Outskirts.

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but you do not need to be the champion for the EV jobs to open up. I have 8 badges and haven't even gone to take on the champ, and I have access to those jobs. So it looks like they open up after your 8th badge
