@@1madmaxx80 im guessing your not a huge Leafs fan considering you think Matthews isn't "the savior". I mean if he aint the savior he's pretty close, without his star tallent our team is nothing. So don't go around thinking Marner and Tavares would be able to carry the team on their own. Learn some things buddy

@@Tiagosauras I've been a Leafs fan since before you were born. I don't have Jesus on a pedestal, so why would Matthews be? LoL. He's a good player, a great goal scorer. Definitely not the saviour. Dubas should have never signed Tavares. Marner is better than Nylander. Freddie is the best goalie we've had since Belfour.

Awesome sniper, but get a grip. He is a well below average passer and doesn’t see the ice very well. In his first three years he is at the bottom of the heap for assists among first line centres. Dead last. I can count his NHL career great passes on one hand. Also doesn’t know his responsibilities without the puck as a centre in his own end, despite decent defensive effort at times. Then there is all the UFTs, but he has improved in that regard last year. Mathews can score goals with the best of them. A great asset but a sniper is not what you build a team around. That’s why Ovi couldn’t get past the first round for 13 years. Mathews limitation is strictly hockey IQ. He hasn’t shown the potential to learn to play centre at the NHL level. That’s why Nylander takes so many d-zone face offs. Willy knows the centre’s job whether he wins or loses the draw. The only reason they play Mathews at centre at all is to keep him off the boards as much as possible to protect the shoulder he has repeatedly injured since he was 15. I’m a Leaf fan and I like him but I would trade him ASAP. Many American teams and managers will still overpay to get him. But the window is closing. The Leafs should cash in before he breaks for good.
