"A song written about loving someone with depression and how difficult It can be to reach them, to make them feel loved, and how frustrating it is when they cannot find happiness. It’s about trying to make a connection, a task that often just feels impossible." - Katie Stelmanis,

This is the perfect song to walk around in this first post quarantine fall with the georgous weather we've been having. The sun and clouds and the biting wind on your cheeks, surrounded by wild colors.

For those wondering what the video is about, it is inspired by the American astronaut Lisa Nowak's scandal, when she attempted to kidnap and beat the woman she thought was the lover of the man she was in love with. Katie Stelmanis, portraying Nowak, buys the things Nowak actually bought before commiting her crime. Katie told in an interview that she wanted to represent mental illness in our society, how we perceive it, but also wanted to pay tribute to Nowak, who was, and still is, a brillant woman.
No references to the fact she was wearing a diaper though from what I see.

that synth beat on the background is so nostalgic. I remember Grimes was using similar beats when she started with her experimentalism. It brings happiness to me and freedom combing with this ethereal voice. Its like she's teaching us so many stuff while just expressing herself. magical is all i can say < 3 (sorry im spamming your songs now Austra)

Sad and strangely beautiful. Using Lisa Nowak's story for the video and the way it's executed is just brilliant. As soon as she put on the NASA suit and got into the car I knew exactly what it was about. Perfection.

@nathancuttica83066 жыл бұрын
IloveSPIDERZ Lisa Nowak was a NASA astronaut who was charged with the attempting kidnapping of another woman. The items bought in the video are the same as what Lisa bought to do this. She tried to kidnap the other woman as she thought that her husband (maybe lover I'm not sure) had cheated on her with the woman. The case was very significant and raised lots of questions about the mental health of NASA astronauts who are placed under a lot of stress and social pressure.

If you love me more than I love myself and yet I love myself more than you love me, then who loves me more? No matter the "story" of the song, words, theme, whatever.. completely irrelevant... I know I adore your opera voice, the way you pronounce words, the way you let go your voice. Also, I adore even more music you make and play, production(ist) and all the studio magic you give and share. I'm gonna drop myself out of my shoes in the club when played. Awesome base line, composition, background sounds, sound theme and variations! Great job!!

I Love You More Than You Love Yourself AustraThere is nothing in your soul tonight I only see darkness And there is nothing in your soul tonight I only see darkness The past, how thick it grows Shakes up what you didn’t know Proceeding, try a little bit harder, baby You’re indifferent You’re a stranger to what makes you feel good I love you more than you love yourself I love you more than you love yourself On top of it Pulling out the nails In a moment of calm Still feels good But it's been so long There is nothing in your soul tonight I only see darkness And there is nothing in your soul tonight I only see darkness The past, how thick it grows Shakes up what you didn’t know Proceeding, try a little bit harder, baby You’re indifferent You’re a stranger to what makes you feel good I love you more than you love yourself I love you more than you love yourself

They're so underrated.. if sia and Florence + machine can be popular why can't austra?
@timothylamphear8 жыл бұрын
Why do you need them to be popular? What does that do for you?
@pavladavlas8 жыл бұрын
timothylamphear OP likes their music, thus wants them to succeed. Why exactly is that bad?
@timothylamphear8 жыл бұрын
I think they're already succeeding. How are they failing? Why the need for Austra to be mainstream like Sia & Florence?
@PeepsILoveEllie8 жыл бұрын
@timothylamphear wishing for a band to stay where they are is pretty selfish, don't you think? don't you want to share the bliss of listening to a great band with everyone else? don't you want the mainstream to change instead of making sure you will never be part of it so you can continue to feel especially enlightened? Austra are obviously successful and well-known already, but I, too, hope that they will be even more successful in the future, so that they can touch even more people and, maybe most importantly, so that they can continue to pay the bills with their music.
