From the U.S. We love our steadfast Australian friends! Often overlooked, it is Australia that always stands by us, through thick and thin. Even when it is unpopular; especially when it is unpopular. Thanks, mate!

We owe it to you, we would've been completely fucked and open to invasion if it wasn't for your Guadalcanal and Marshal Islands campaign. The Anzac's were in Europe so it was up to the USMC and Navy to save our arse.

A friendship bound by the blood of the fallen. A bond stronger than any earthly bounds. When the world shunned the US we stood alongside you in Vietnam. We will never abandon you. The ties are too strong...our values too similar. Nothing can cut those ties assunder.

@@castlebravo2023 we (the aussies) had a larger pacific presence than europe. The battle of milne bay is a perfect example of that.

A lot of Americans do not realize that Australia stood by us in Vietnam when none of our other allies wanted anything to do with it. I saw a video years ago about Australian Vietnam veterans. From the interviews they spoke of, the experiences from both countries veterans were the same. Thank you Australian military members for your history of service and camaraderie.

Made me proud to be Aussie seeing that, my Irish born grandfather was in the US 33rd Infantry Division, fought at Meuse Argonne in 1917, the deadliest battle in US Military history, I’m lucky to be here.

On Behalf of the Vast Majority of Western Australians We Honor and Dearly Respect our Alliance with the United States. I am certain that the Home Porting of a Carrier Battle Group in Fremantle would be Much Supported. May God Bless OUR ALLIANCE AND FRIENDSHIP.

Would surely be at Careening Bay in Garden Island rather than in Fremantle if anything I would think. I live less than 5km from Garden Island and would definitely be in support of something like that should the need ever arise.

The Australian ambassador absolutely nailed it. My view on the US & Australia has aways been like 2 siblings with the same abusive parent. We survive by relying on each other. The big difference with Australia when it comes to US allies is they have actually stood and delivered 100% of the time when others have waned for one reason or another (IE Vietnam War). Also remember that after 9/11 the first treaty invoked was ANZUS and the first country to come to the US's defense was Australia. Took NATO 3 days and took Australia less than 3 hours. The words he spoke were not out of hope or future alliance but from history and from Australia keeping their promises. Here's to another 100 years or more of mateship!

As an Australian, I love and am proud of the 3 Hobart Class Destroyers we have/will have. But damn! The Arleigh Burke class is an Awesome and large ship! The Hobart Class is considerably slimmer compared to it lol. I know we needed ships with less crew size, and the Burke Class needs over 70 more crew members required to man it than the Hobart does, but it would still have been cool if we could have gotten Burkes, if the US was exporting them that is... To think the US has 66 Arleighs and they're building 6 more...

They sort of export them, Japan and ROK has indigenous designs very heavily borrowed off the original design of the Arleigh Burkes and while going off shelf was an option as you say - their logistics requirements are too much to justify three for the RAN.

As an American who has lived in Australia the mateship became obvious immediately. The relationship is like a big brother (USA), little brother (AUS) which can cause some friction but don't date pick on little bro

There was an epic alcohol fuelled brawl and two day riot between American and Australian personell on the streets of Brisbane during WW2 . Google search "Battle of Brisbane " it's well documented.

It was with the US MPs, not with the yanks in general and kicked off when the MPs asked an American private for his pass (the very same private the Aussies had just finished having a run in with) when the Aussies turned on them and came to the defence of the private. One of the MPs drew a billy club and that was it, it was on for young and old. After the riots ended the yanks were surprised by the attitude of the Aussies who called it a good blue and bought the yanks a drink😉

@@chrisrabbitt Forgot to mention most of the drama was over black American's and the Aussies didn't like the way they were being treated by MPs SO they Intervened.

@@RobertSmith-pt7gl no I didn't because he wasn't black, he was white. Yes the Australians didn't like the way the Yanks treated their black soldiers (rather ironically) and there were run ins but this wasn't one of those occasions. I think your thinking of the blue the Yanks had in NZ when they tried to remove some Maori's from a bar because they had a whites only policy (as in the Americans, not the bar) and learned the hard way, thats a stupid idea
