It's a dangerous, explosive product risking Australian lives daily, creates Asthma and the value is mostly transferred to our competitors to give them advantage over us, taking our good jobs, poisoning our water. So, do you really want the world to depend on Russian gas? Lastly, gas is a transition fuel. The world will never get to net zero without it. You need gas as back up to intermittent renewables. The worlds largest beef producer (Brazil) is also a member. A stated aim of Brics is to encourage trade between member states first before going out into the rest of the world. Put two and two together - well there is possibly a market loss looming. So just being aware it could happen, and prepare for it? Too hard...

What's happening to our superannuation, the funds go up and down and when you retire your fund be 60%. We have been forced into a compulsory superannuation in 1990 by Paul Keating which moved the liabilities on the public. When your superannuation has a loss you don't get a taxable deduction but you pay a tax when there is a profit every year. Wake up Australia.

his from Turnbull in 2017 ""We’ve been grappling with a shortage of gas on the east coast which was the creation of the Labor Party when they were in government, when Blackout Bill was a minister in the Gillard Government and they allowed gas exports from Queensland, from the east coast, for the first time and paid absolutely no regard to protecting the interests of domestic customers. Their failure to do so is one of the great Labor failures in energy policy. There's been more than a few, but this one has had very long-running consequences. They were warned by the Australian Energy Market Operator at the time, they were warned by the Federal Government's own Energy Department, by the officials, that this, allowing exports without any protection for the domestic market would cause tighter supply and higher prices and it's done precisely that.""

The QLD CSG gas fields would not have been developed without LNG exports as it was not economic to do so. At the time the domestic gas price for most GSAs was around $3 to $3.50 GJ compared to LNG price of $6 to $7.

Barrow Island, I worked there for WAPET 1960,s oil producing to Kwinana refinery in Perth, Gas was a problem in the well too much at high pressure had to be flared (burnt off). The Yanks were sniffing around the North West Shelf drilling wildcats for oil reserves but the high pressure Gas made it uneconomical. When LPG became a commodity Chevron already had the exploration data from their oil exploration years before.

I just bought a new gas mate cooker . And had another turn at fixing the outdoor one, as it had weathered and wouldn't ignite . Kept trying it , and trying it and it just wouldn't bang on , so disappointed , I conceded defeat and bought brand new one, from Bunnings . The brand new one then gave me the confidence to tackling fixing the weathered tired one , have another crack at getting it working again. And I took some time with it, carefully cleaned it all up , sat it in full sun for a day , let it rest in the cool, dark place (for week or two to rest) put a brand new gas cartridge in, double checked everything was aligned and fitted right and turned it over ! Do you think that I fixed it readers ? 😁 Bingo ! Of course I did . As per usual . Got it going again bang on beautifully. So now I have two, gas top cookers . And relieved because I was going to throw the weathered one out . But persevered as the new, gave me the confidence to revisit the old . 😊

It was the Rudd/Gillard/ALP government from 2008-2013 that authorised export of gas from the East Coast for the first time.
@davidbrayshaw352910 күн бұрын
@@Neil-yg5gm At that time, I was in a business and an industry that was hugely gas dependent. I remember the time with absolute clarity. The deal was brokered by the Howard Government. Following convention, Rudd signed off on it. I can still remember watching television news with my boss, at the time, and seeing John Howard proclaiming to the nation what a wonderful deal he had done. And here we are, today. And, by the way, I'm a swinging voter. I don't hold a torch for the ALP whatsoever, but Howard was a trainwreck.
@Neil-yg5gm10 күн бұрын
@ The Howard gas deal was signed in 2002 ie 23 years ago. The gas deals causing our shortages are the ones signed by Rudd/Gillard/ALP from 2008-2013. Worse Labor was warned we would have gas shortages if they signed those contracts. Labor ignored the warning.
@davidbrayshaw352910 күн бұрын
@ I am open to correction, but that is not what I recall. Was there a change in contract between the deal that Howard brokered and the one that Rudd signed off on? I wasn't aware of that. There were serious concerns about the amount of available gas that Australia had when Howard entered negotiations, something that has been realised, today. What changes were made to the contracts between the two parties?

A Few sobering points: 1) Australia cuts gas companies favourable deals, because they've poured tens of billions of dollars into developing the gas fields and huge supporting infrastructure. 2) The time has now come, for Australia to improve its "take" of both i) a share of gas for itself and ii) a FEDERAL royalty increase to earn more $$$ from the now mature gas assets. 3) "Stupid"...maybe more accurate to say slow, but in all fairness, we have had others pay to develop a massive resource!
