As an American I fell in love with Australia the way they told us how they really feel.

Am indian immigrants work for nsw health for many years serving the elderly. I have been many times had to run away from racism in Sydney I. Health care. Worked in the country side where they look Down very low on aboriginal ppl. I gave up working as a heath service career and persuading to get a degree. It is very hard in the white privileged society which is very cruel 😢

I lived in Melbourne, Vic and the Mid West ( Conservative Republican America) for many years. Of the two, I found Australia to be the most openly racist society far more than anyother place I have ever lived. The fact that Australia surprisingly does not show up in the top 10 most racist nations on Earth ranking only proves that these supposed rankings should be taken with a pinch of salt and are highly prone to subjective pro-western bias.

I've been wanting to visit Australia for a while now. This topic has been one I've wondered about though. I know racism is everywhere but I guess it's because its a different environment.
@irlcheyenne Жыл бұрын
australia likes to think we’re not racist at all but it’s honestly everywhere. most don’t notice because it’s usually ‘casual racism’. unfortunately, indigenous australians cop it the most. west and south asian people get treated quite poorly as well.
@irlcheyenne Жыл бұрын
i will clarify that like i said it’s mostly casual racism, usually just weird/judgemental looks, little remarks, or people thinking they’re fine when they’re actually saying/asking something extremely offensive. most aussies will turn a blind eye to racist jokes or just laugh along. it’s definitely much more of a subtle thing.. unless you anger someone because then you will probably hear every insult and slur under the sun 😬

Seems like the focus on social issues are overriding larger problems such as housing affordability, the likely possibility of international conflict and high inflation. It irks me when social issues are politicised. It never turns out in the peoples favour and the underlying issue will never go away regardless of how much an organisation tries to shut unsavoury people up.
@sorenlorenson83273 жыл бұрын
You can focus on more than one issue at a time . Just because discrimination is being discussed it does stop anyone campaigning for or talking about the issues you mentioned. If you suffer from discrimination these issues are probably as important as the issues you have mentioned.
