If anyone is planning a trip like this, make sure you are up for it physically and mentally. Don't be afraid to do it alone, I have crossed the Nullarbor fourteen times on a motorcycle, twelve times by myself. Planning is crucial to having a great run. Make sure your bike is serviced and you know how many ks you will get from your rear tyre. The weight on the rear and your speed will wear the tyre quickly, so you need to stick to the speed limit to get the most ks . The most you will probably get from a good touring tyre is ten thousand ks if you lucky. April is the best time to tour in Australia, not too hot up north and cool down south. Carry a few litres of water and food for a few days. Have the tools you need to work on your bike, a litre of oil, a puncture kit, first aid kit,a rope so you can be towed if necessary, a ground sheet, tent, fly , sleeping bag, water container, pot to boil water, I take a gas stove with me, it makes a good base on your rack to pack the light things onto.Wet weather gear is a must. Planning your run is important, know what your limit is . Don't ride furtigued. Have a good map and route worked out. Ask if you are lost, don't chase your tail. Know how many ks you get from your fuel tank, fill up sooner rather than later. If you follow these guidelines you will go a long way to enjoying your run. Most important is to have respect on the road, if someone needs help, stop and ask. You never know, one day it could be you. I have broken down on the Nullarbor myself and people have stopped in minutes, bent over backwards and got me sorted. Australia is a great place to travel, just be smart, and enjoy yourself, cheers.

What an amazing trip mate. Great to see you had a wonderful time. A few friends and I will be going through the Nullarbor Plain in a couple of months as well. This video made me look forward to it even more 🙂

My experience is similar to yours. In 2019, I came here to pursue my degree. I haven't completed and succeeded in all of my life's goals. I've been considering taking a motorcycle tour of Australia. You know, I want to finish this settled down and be married. I'm not sure if I'll do the entire Australia tour in the Honda CB500, but it may be the next year or when I finish my studies. I have so far bought and sold the Duke 200, R3, Ninja 650, and MT07. I've test-ridden a CB500, and I think this would be good for longer journeys. So yeah, that's my goal; I'm not sure if I'll follow through with it, but I'll attempt to do it in the next two years. 😅 Thank you for sharing the video.👍🏾

It helps having a slightly bigger and longer bike when it comes to carrying packed items and tools. Super useful especially if you do not have panniers. If you love bikes and touring, you should cross Australia at least once in your life! It is amazing

I'm about to do the same. Can you pls share more details especially the cost for fuel and maybe some tips to tent safely? And would gas tank is enough to reach gas station or do you need to carry extra fuels just in case?
@twowheelsojourner1298 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply: check out fuelly.com for crowd sourced motorcycle fuel economy ratings. I got around 24 km per litre because I am quite light on the throttle generally speaking. This V Strom has a 20 litre tank that could easily bridge between petrol stops, but I brought along a 5 litre spare jerry can just in case. For tents: I would always recommend using long tent pegs(more than 25cm long is great), and putting them into the ground at a 10-15° angle.
