This muppet wants to bring manufacturing back to Oz without actually having a clue what we actually do manufacture. For example we make many caravans here, camper trailers and off road accessories. Now if this genius incresses the tax on utes and 4wds for example, what flow on effects does he even consider would happen to those industries including tourism. Your average EV cannot legally tow a caravan and if it could you wouldn't get very far before it'd need recharging (despite the Russell Coight ad). This policy will do.more damage than this government can possibly know. But that what you get when you have a PM who has no idea

Great video Craig . I would also mention that battery powered cars lose their range as time goes on , , and if you take into account that the battery in an electric vehicle which are well known to be hugely expensive and will probably need a replacement in 8 or 9 years , and if you like to get the most out of your cars and keep them for 15 or 20 years ( I do) , the cost of an EV battery divided into a per year cost basis makes them a no win argument, especially when a properly maintained petrol or diesel model can last easily for 15 or 20 years or even more.

Apparently, when the time comes to ban ICE cars in cities in Australia, they will allow small ICE cars into cities such as a Toyota Yaris and similar sized vehicles that have a fuel consumption of 50 miles or more to the gallon. They will allow a Plugin Hybrid into the city but not, as they call them, “A Mild Hybrid.” I drive a “Mild Hybrid” Toyota Corolla which has a fuel consumption of around 60 to 70 MPG and not only that, city traffic is usually slow, and when traffic is slow a Hybrid will flick over to electric only. So, a Toyota Yaris with a fuel consumption of 50 miles to the gallon will be allowed into the city, but my Toyota Corolla Hybrid which has a fuel consumption of 60 to 70 miles per gallon, and runs mainly in electric will not be allowed into the city.

Voldemort😂😂😂😂😂, that’s cruel but funny , sadly I suspect you may be right mate , I’d like to think that Dutton would do the right thing and get rid of these bullshit fines and what is essentially a shifty way of forcing car makers and the greater population to buy inferior electric cars . As an old mechanic and truck driver ( retired) , these penus head politicians like Albanese and Bowen are pushing us down a path into vehicles that will not last as long , that also are not as capable in many ways , and the whole green thing they are promoting is really just smoke and mirrors , and it will cost not only the motorist , but the community at large a pile of tax payer money which Albanese and Bowen don’t want to talk about. In short we are being scammed.

VW's analysis is interesting. However, it doesn't fairly compare the life expectancy, of Diesel v Battery. The e-Golf would be lucky to get 150k, while the Diesel would likely get more than 250k, whole of life. That's a fatal flaw. So, you either compare battery replacement at 150k, or stop the comparison at the shortest expected life. Either option then shows almost no difference! Aside, CO2 is a trace gas, humans contribute a trace of that trace, and it's critically low, it's a gas of life, if it drops much more, we all die! That's the reality!

Why don’t they slug electric cars with a polluted water fine? The bigger the battery the bigger the fine. The production of EVs and EV batteries will pollute billions of tonnes of water. A massive amount of water is used to mine and process the minerals for an EV battery and a massive amount of water is used to produce the EV battery. A study shows producing 100 EV batteries requires around 2 million tonnes of water, that’s tonnes of water, not gallons of water. The plan is to build 1 billion EVs. That will require and pollute 20,000,000,000 tonnes of water. That’s a lot of polluted water.

Why would they find a Toyota Corolla Hybrid? A Toyota Corolla Hybrid only has a 1.8lt motor. The battery is a small battery with a range of 1 mile. A Toyota Corolla Hybrid will return a fuel consumption of between 60 to 70 miles per gallon and the small battery will outperform any EV battery on the market because a hybrid battery does not work on range but works on reducing fuel and reducing emissions. It’s"start-stop" technology where the ICE engine stops and the electric motor takes over. So why penalize a medium-sized Toyota Corolla Hybrid with a1.8 litre engine that has a fuel consumption of 60 to 70 MPG and has the capability to switch off the combustion engine and run on electric.
