So short version is: A private road has been used for free for years by 4x4s and now the owner/operator has decided to clean it up and close it off. Maybe places like the 4WD parks need to build up something similar and become the new destination for tourists.

Tracks like the red twins are born out of destruction. Sure it sucks, I live 15 minutes from Mintbush and Monkeygum tracks, and we have lost ALOT of the tracks around here because of the destruction and the liabilities. Its also the cost that comes with having to clean up after the people that dont take their crap back home with them. Will also point out people from the cities keep buying "tree change" plots and these tracks end up being their daily access. So we should all chip in, buy the plots of land before the city sheep do and create our own play areas. I will be looking to do this in the next few years. Excellently constructed video, humourous and entertaining. I have however lost the ability to measure things properly after watching.

I've recently been doing a lot of driving on State forest and National Park tracks in the Vic High country and its easy to see why some tracks are getting closed. There is evidence everywhere of hard core 4WD vehicles damaging not only the tracks but the adjacent vegetation.The tracks are damaged by deliberately choosing challenging lines that cause damage and by using excessive power and speed. We've had nearly a week of strong winds recently with many trees down on the tracks. We're allowed to use chainsaws to clear them in Vic, but many of them have been left as is and bypassed, often resulting in vegetation and erosion damage. I've got in the habit of clearing the trees and spreading the branches over the sidetracks to prevent further damage. As a major user group of these tracks, we have to take some responsibility for looking after them or we'll lose them, and many of us will only have ourselves to blame.
@SHOCKcustoms7 ай бұрын
If it is infact private property, what's the issue? The owner of the land can maintain it however they see fit. Being gratefuit'its been open for so long for public use is not a bad deal. New tracks will be forged the fun will continue just in a different location.

Deteriorated track rectified, not a problem as it was long overdue. Problem will be if it remains locked off to the public and if as suggested below in the comments, users take it upon themselves to create new tracks off of this rectified track, well it will become locked off, want it to remain open, don't abuse your access rights, it's really simple. Don't go off the main track. Repair any damage you create, thus allowing operaters access to whatever it is the road has been repaired for.. Do this and there is little reason to lock us out. Yes, the old ways from the old days when tracks were available, repair as you go, don't chop them up so others can't pass, that's how we kept trails open in the olden days. Sorry, I'm displaying too much commonsense here for many to accept.

It's almost like property owners are being expected to accept people risking their lives on their property just to keep you tubers happy. Track maintenance is a thing everywhere fire trails, access roads and service roads exist. Those tracks are NOT built for people to film their heroics on youtube Were there not absolute flogs out there most days deliberately chewing up the tracks to make them more challenging, with what are illegally modified 4wds then we'd probably have never reached that point. But sadly that's whats happened. A saturation of people there every weekend causing traffic chaos. There's reasons why the cops no longer turn a blind eye to lifted 4wds thinking, well, they're only gonna want to go slow, so why do we need to defect their car, anyway? We as a group need to respect that the owners have the right to use their land (whether owned, or leased) and have the right to keep us out. If we can co-exist with them and not deliberately trash it as so many people seem to do each weekend, then the land doesn't get locked off. But if we're gonna abuse it, dump rubbish in it, or let people dump stolen cars in it and set them on fire well they're gonna want to protect themselves from that kind of carry on.

It will look like the same old red just deeper by the time everyone is finished with it, you will just have a flat ground to 4wd on for awhile. Have fun with it, make sure to leave a track for everyday aussies that isn't fucked up though.
