I'm a fairly casual player, but I enjoy the competitive scene a bit, I think that in order to make more people excited about these types of videos (competitive focused) you might just have to explain a lot of it. Things like Rivalries, History, Characters and their move sets, etc.

There was one video you did before that was a perfect blend of competitive for casual audiences. It was like a tournament breakdown. You went over the big matches and moments that happened it was paced really well, but you only ever made one video like it. I think more like that would be good.

Oh man I love when you cover more competitive smash! Since you’re the only underdog that really does it’s nice that you have this somewhat niche. I also wouldn’t mind more character specific videos, like I recently picked up wolf and I wouldn’t mind having you teach me what I should and shouldn’t be doing with him

As a casual player and a deep rooted competitive viewer I love most when you focus on specific interactions. For instance in this video, the emphasis on reading Ken's panic roll out from high pressure scenarios in games 1 and 2, and then capitalizing on that in game three really gives insight into how top level players see the game. Keep up the great work!

As someone who's not super invested in the competitive scene, I think this was a good, "digestible" video in terms of length and having you describe the history and summarize the story of why this was a big deal. I typically wouldn't watch a full 30 minute set but this was the perfect amount

I think the key to bring the competitive scene to a casual scene is you yourself being invested in the games. It’s better if it feels like you’re watching alongside us like in this video versus where you’re being hyper analytical and pausing all the time. We want to see the nonstop action and hype then you can go more in depth after the whole game maybe.

You could do similar stuff to what the panda youtube channel did when it was still active. Reacting to tournaments but cut it down to the most important/interesting things. For example big upsets by unknown players or especially by characters that aren't played that often. For example when Peanut nearly beat Leo or when Abadango nearly won a Japanese major with Meta Knight or Hikaru beating top 5 Japanese players with DK, stuff like that is what got me init the competitive scene and now I watch most big tournaments live.

I honestly miss this kind of content. I remember when you'd go to tournaments and explain your gameplan from the recordings. I enjoy that a lot, I feel like you're feeding my mind. I both love to understand people's gameplans and analyzing characters and matchups. So I'd love to see the competitive content come back on the channel. 🤩 PLUS I actually learnt a few things from watching your videos, and my personal playstyle became more consistent thanks to you! Love the competitive stuff, I think one thing you could try out is pausing and rewinding at key moments to explain what was so crucial about them. For example, if there's a great read or option that leads to a kill, maybe pause and go back and show it in slow motion to explain why that option was optimal in that situation, or if another option would have been better. Cheers and congratulations on your engagement!

In terms of explaining competitive smash to the casual scene, you can try the approach Karl jobst went with speedrunning. I'm not really interested in speedrunning but the way karl simplified the complex techniques down to a more lay man explanation, it helps make it easier to understand why the accomplishment is such a huge achievement. That's why I started being interested in the competitive scene for smash in the first place. Understanding the small nuances, the lead up to the speedrun/matches and how the execution is just so limited on time is quite fascinating. That's why the explanation of the Australia smash scene really helps put things in context

So as someone who really doesn't know competitive smash at all beyond a few top names (mostly from you talking about them) but is into other esports scenes, I think the best way to make content for the casual scene would be to instead of trying to cover all of to competitive scene at the same time, do a sort of mini series going over individual players that you think have a cool story so that we can become invested in specific names, and then as you make more and more of those you'll eventually cover so much of the scene that we actually have a frame of reference when you start name dropping people. This also would mean that you'd get people going back to check out the old videos who are specifically interested in the players that you covered, as I feel that's probably going to draw more attention then if you just did content covering a specific year in competitive scene for example Also keep bringing that excitement, your passion about the scene makes me want to care about it too

You should go through some of the classic rivalries in competitive smash, making highlight videos showing the big moments, the underdog wins, the upset victories, the utter dominations, that lead to these hype stories! Show the more casual fans the best of the best when they're deep in the trenches, setting old grudges, and how close these photo finishes between smash legends can really be! Break it down, go over the critical mistakes, the embarrassing slip ups, and any cheese strats that left the crowd in an uproar! People might know names like MkLeo, Tweek and Gakt, but do they know the games that cemented their place in history as smash legends? Have they seen the absolute peak of *optimal gameplay*? If anyone can pass these stories on, it's Poppt1 for the win.

Hey! This is a great video, I really enjoy the more competitively geared content. I think if you'd want to get more people invested, is with this type of content, where you're almost explaining WHY that top player is doing what they're doing, almost deciphering the high level gameplay into smaller steps. That way they can learn little tricks for their own gameplay based on these high level games (which ofc means they'll hopefully remember your video when they apply them!)

I'd also like to add that Jdizzle beat Hikaru, though it's worth mentioning that Hikaru seemed to have been playing Sora at this tournament so it's not the same compared to if he went Roy or DK, or heck, even beating his Mii Brawler is respectable since he seems to seriously use it for certain matchups. Either way I enjoyed the video because as someone who lives in the Western Hemisphere, any Japanese tournament that isn't super hyped up or a major tends to fall under my radar so I likely would've never heard of Jdizzle's crazy run at this tournament.

This format reminds me of Drive to Survive. I think they really tried, and succeeded, to do a similar thing with F1. I knew nothing about the F1 scene but from just watching the show I can remember people and story lines. It gives me the option to jump into races or events on and off without feeling lost. So maybe try emulating some of the things they do there. Keep it up though I think this is new life to the channel that can hopefully bring in views and interest to you and competitive smash.

I think if you explain the storylines and the stakes of each tournament people would become more interested. Example: telling people how genesis could determine the new number one spot after 5 years of Leo dominance and how both tweek and spargo are in contention. The also explain the other dangerous player to watch out for and why you like then. This would give people a reason to be interested since they are looking forward to seeing some of these match up or even stomps if a top player vs a unknown player.
