There's a vibe about the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water. They're very laid back, everything goes slowly and it's like the locals wear a smile that says: "Yeah, we know we live in paradise." It's unspoiled but there's also a touch of Byron chic that attracts sea-changers, backpackers and surfers alike. I explore what the towns have to offer and ride an amphibious vehicle to a lighthouse.

Wow - someone who knows the tropics start north of the tropic of Capricorn! Im serious. Very refreshing..So many travellers think the Tropics start in Cairns etc. lol. Great video. Thanku.

My partner and I rocked up there to go surfing it was 1988 the year of the bicentennial there was a couple of shacks and loads of blocks for sale we were only there a few weeks ago what a change.

Would imagine lots of gems along the coast up that way. Once rode in a Larc from Port Welshpool to Snake island while on an Army exercise and it was an unforgettable experience. Often one wheel would be in the water while the other was riding along a sandbar. :)

Man it’s changed a lot since I was there last 😂 they’d just built the new tavern my friends knew the guy that had the only surf shop there, fantastic fishing 🎣 love to go back can’t believe all the houses on the top of the hills, hope it stays chilled & doesn’t go all influencers etc especially for the locals sake

For sunsets looking over the water (not to mention fabulous snorkelling and diving) go due east about 80km to Lady Elliot island at the southern end of the Reef - Fly from Hervey Bay.and stay at the eco resort.

LARC - Light Amphibious Resupply Cargo. Before that the US military used DUKW's where the letters were General Motors code for 1942 Utility All Wheel Drive Tandem Rear Axles. But when soldiers, sailors and marines saw a truck which swam they said Duck instead of DUKW. Another story is that when the US army got it first Helicopter Utility 1 the pilots saw HU1 written on the manuels and they started calling it the Huey.
