This reminds me of when I first started watching 4wd action over 15 years ago and it got me hooked. This is way better than the constant panel crunching episodes that 4wd24/7 has become.

I went to Oz to work on a project (Olympic Dam) based in Adelaide in 2008. First thing I did was to buy a LC200 V8 & had it modded with Mikey Thompsons, ARB bull bar, nitro shocks/lift, rear drawers, 2w radio , spots, ARB compressor etc etc. I also started with a Kimberly Kamper and eventually upgraded to the Karavan. Because the Eyre peninsula was so close to Adelaide we spent a lot of time doing trips to the Eyre peninsula (I was also on a 4 day week due to the financial crisis & made every 2nd weekend a 4day weekend). We swam with sea lions in Baird bay, camped in Coffin bay and thoroughly explored the whole region as far up as Parachilna and the Flinders ranges, including Wilpena pound and as far west as the Big Galah. We also did the Simpson crossing, Birdsville track, saw Lake Eyre full of water etc. I moved to Brissie (by road via, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon, Palm Valley (I’m from Africa and have never seen insects like those in Palm Valley) & Mt Isa etc )and we also thoroughly explored that area. Stayed in Oz for 8 years and have very fond memories (which this video brought back). Grandchildren are in the UK so.................happy wife.......happy life.

Gee the Y62 sounds good. You guys gave it to us this time, the comedy, another sand recovery demonstration, premium fishing and seafood, cooking masterclasses, the scenery.. definitely no shorter than 40 minutes for off grid episodes. Spag bowl on toast in the bush on a cold morning makes a good breaky also..

What a cracking episode. 👌👌 The EP (speaking like a local now 😁) & the surrounding area never fails to impress. That ridge track wouldn't look out of place in the VIC high country. What a great track. Enjoying the "Off Grid". Keep 'em coming. 👍

If you ever can Graham, do a season of Off-grid here in New Zealand, especially the South Island! I'm sure Bluff Oysters would give EP's a run for their money! Other then that, Great episode! 🍻

Hey Josh, I'm planning a trip to the beautiful South Island (been over 20 years since I visited from UK) Where would you suggest I visit?
@joshburke4083 Жыл бұрын
@@ApexHerbivore You can't go wrong with any direction you go but I'd do a lap of the island to get the most out of it. But to name a few areas, definitely lots of tracks on the West Coast (Napoleon hill is one I'd love to do), McKenzie country, Fiordland to name a few.
@ApexHerbivore Жыл бұрын
@@joshburke4083 Thanks bud. I guess I just wanted to know your favourite spots in case I hadn't been there. I remember getting rained off the Abel Tasman track, pancake rocks, Franz Josef glacier, Milford Sound, Arthur's pass, and Kaikoura. Probably more if I racked my brain. There's tons of places I didn't go though. Maybe I'll draw my old route on a map and try to fill the gaps haha. If you think of any amazing spots, let me know :)
