I'm glad they put the Qantas logo on tbe inside of the winglet as well as the outside. The contrast on a bright sunny day is quite striking. Much better than the previous dismal metallic grey.

I did this flight a few years ago for work. I would recommend people just take the 3 hour drive down to Canberra instead and enjoy the scenery along the way.

hey mate when you edit these can you leave in the PAs? I'm interested in the cabin welcome, the pilot flight brief, after takeoff PA, inflight service PA, descent PA, landing PA and disembark PA.

This flight would had been even shorter if winds at Sydney were from the south making a super short taxi for Runway 16R with an immediate right turn to head west for Canberra.

@@geoffk8996 Yes, you are right. Qantas wet leased two Finnair A330 to mainly fly Sydney-Bangkok and Sydney-Singapore routes. This started at least half a year ago, and I believe it is a long-term contract until new aircraft arrive.

wait wait, every time i do cbr to syd or syd to cbr i use a dash 8? Why r u using 737, thats usually for cbr to melbourne!?

This 737 flight is sporadic, not daily. There are only around 3 flights each week.

It's to cover the 717s that are retiring. They are also a daily flight with QF805-QF804

I got interrogate by one of those people that wave that wand over you, as to why I was not carrying more hand luggage. Not only was he operating well outside his area of authority, but he had difficulty comprehending that the Sydney to Canberra flight was about 40 mins. For his fellow employees, that was on the 13th February 2024, am, at the Virginia terminal. A completely arrogant male with an obvious over- inflated sense of importance.

@DrBear Aviation I wasn’t referring to the federal cops mate, they’re pretty good. I was referring to the security at the screening points & airside, They’re on a level of “special” all their own.

I wouldn't be adverse to standing up for myself in the face of such questioning, but only in Australia. In America or Britain I'd just let them have their moment. I wouldn't want to risk putting myself in trouble.

What was your cruise altitude, mate?

FL240 mate. But it only stayed at this altitude for less than 5 minutes before descent.

@@DrBearAviation Haha cheers mate. Melbourne to Launceston used to always make me laugh, simular thing but not as bad. Would often hit FL320'ish then would be decending again

The most efficient way to fly a jet like this is to climb as high as you can for the length of the leg and have top of climb coincide with top of descent, resulting a semi-parabolic flight path. In practise of course, that almost never occurs, but as a general rule climbing high and having a relatively short cruise segment is closer to optimal.
