On this weeks Video
We drive the legendary HSV GTS with the Supercharged LSA! this car ever since its reales has always been a staple of Aussie motoring and with this being there last send off they didn't disappoint.. this monster pumps out over 577HP/430KW from factory! this car is 4 doors, can seat comfortably 5 adults and is rear wheel drive with a 6 speed manual! this car is so Australian and i really do like it!
now to the dilemma has this beaten the FPV Barras?????
well personally NO..
BUT... this thing i gotta say on a track day probably would smoke it.. the handling has improved immensely and really does give confidence.
Straight line i would bet the FPV Turbo Barra would win on the top end.. but the GTS is Instant power and really does throw you back as soon as you hit the pedal..
All in all you cant go wrong with either of the too! if your after more of a refined ride but still like the V8 sound and power go for the GTS LSA.. if your after huge power and a bit more of a car that will scare you.. stick with the F6 Barras.

Im from west Australia and in the 80s, everyone with their hotted up monaros, toranas, premiers etc etc etc, we use to drive around the city, go to number 3 carpark, put some oil down and just do burn outs, and we use to call it "chucking bog laps around town" every weekend, we use to scatter when the cops showed up, those were the good old days. I miss the old Holdens

I'd recommend you check out some of the stuff we've got here mate, sometimes I don't realise that some of the cars I see and work on and drive every day were never really sold anywhere else and hardly anyone knows about them. Unfortunately the Australian car industry is now nothing like it was even just a few years ago but there's definitely some gems here still yet to be discovered by people from other countries

Mary Bara...CEO of GM and her bean counters killed the most inventive division of any GM outpost. What Holden's engineers achieved with limited funds was just amazing. The local backlash against the factory being closed has been severe with Holden's sales dropping considerably to a point in the sales race that is almost as bad as some of the Chinese imports. Sad really because the ZB Commodore (although not locally assembled and really not a Commodore) is not a bad piece of engineering but it had a very hard act to follow and not having a V8 also doomed its future. Many pundits are predicting that Holden will soon be gone in Australia...either sold to another company or the brand being "retired" like Pontiac. 90 years of Aussie ability gone in one fell swoop.

If the gearbox feels notchy swap the gearbox oil out. Had the same issue on my 2014 Clubby shortly after I bought it new and an oil swap pretty much fixed it.

i own one in manual series 1 looks better imo without all the fake vents, they are an awesome drive. only thing i was dissapointed with also paying that much and having a bad quality reverse camera and halogen lights which i changed anyway. factory ones on drag radials getting 11.9 factory tyres 12.2

The bonnet vents are actually functional... look closely in person and you can physically see through them. Just not big holes.

Great review bro 💯 one of the tuff ones I’d own, love one in auto, seen them stock at eastern creek run 12.5 stock down the quarter.with is a touch faster than the xr6 turbo sprint..car list u need to do..bf F6, vx clubsport, vy clubsport, vz clubsport, ba/bf GT, AU TS50, vt gts, bf tornado(Ute), maloo vy-vz, bf xr6T auto, Ed xr8 sprint, vn ss, ef el xr8, fg 335 GT..

theres heaps of youtube vids many getting 12.2 street tyres and force induction chillers have a gtsr with the lsa 11.9 on radials not the w1 which is 474kw and the gtsr is a little bit heavier. vid : kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqbdd5iEYq2ir7s

I kinda think of it like you wouldn't really say a Lamborghini Hurracan isn't an Italian car simply because it has a German engine, it's pretty much the same here, most of the Holdens and Ford's here have adapted american engineering into our cars obviously since they're owned by American companies, but we definitely still played a big part in the development and production of the overall cars we have here

To me the Ford are tail happy cause the chassis was not as good as the Holden chassis. Put that lsa into a Ford chassis it would spin out lol. That chassis is amazing to grip like that.

I have a hard time believing these will be any cheaper than what they already are for a long time.. as they are not making them anymore and very desirable.. even older HSV and FPV models have increased in price lately.. I think these will be collect cars for sure this one I filmed I think was about 75k..?

I dunno where you are from but there's a tuning company called Walkinshaw that can make these 557kW. Not sure if at crank or wheels though. The blue paints in my opinion isn't great. The lime green one way better

PS the LED lights just above the door handles on the inside light up blue, but the rear door handles do not light up, only in the top of the range Caprice and Grange they do, WTF is going on thier, i asked holden and they said you can get them ,but the complete door inner section has to be replaced unless you took it to a auto electrician and they did it for you, which is costing a mint just to have the rear door handles light up and dimming control to work as well ? also all HSV auto models came out with trans coolers and engine oil and even diff oil coolers and even the cop cars got them, only V8's, yet they don't come out stuck like that since way back when the VY\s after that only when a tow pack and transcoller was ordered when you brought the car new WTF is going on there?

Ohh hell yeah! I've driven a w557 Clubsport a couple of times at work . A manual one . Absolute BEAST of a machine !! Back end kicking out at 120kph in 3rd gear! Most brutal car I've ever driven and I've driven a lambo gallardo!

@@RossReviewsau .... Obviously, Car Giant WA had you on a short leash. Bummer, as it would have been so good to get this car up onto the Darling Scarp, which I know you enjoy. It is little wonder that this series has achieved virtual cult status in The States. As for you decision, I can only agree. This is a great car, but it appeals more to bogan element of society ( Brett ). A more refined gentleman ( me ) would always opt for the turbo Barra. That was an excellent review Jon. @@RossReviewsau also have done a bit of work now 1100nm and 600hp at the treads and it still drives like stock unless you step on it.

The real reason Holden went bust was because they wanted everyone to lose their licences.... Personal gripe I have is they never fixed the cabin vibration problem once the rear windows go down. Causes headaches, very uncomfortable and a bad design fault. But still sad to see them go....unless I can get 175K together and pick up a 2019 Camaro ZL1....

I think it was the alloytec, they couldn't have used a worse engine. The v8s are great but that 6 was shocking, they should've just kept the old buick 6.

Ross Reviews yeah they’re cool cars but they get really expensive. Step dad has a 2011 clubsport gts with upgraded cams, exhaust and intake. Insanely fast, unfortunately one of the pistons blew about 2 years back. Then came the extra hefty bill lol

Ross Reviews what do you think the bottom will be? I think in Melb the cheapest you can get is about 50k. You can get a R8 a bit cheaper. But the electronic dampers would be nice, and obviously the top spec will fetch more dollars in 10 or 20 years. If they went as low as $30,000 before rising I’d buy one but I dont think they will

Wormy hard to say.. I got a feeling they won’t go much below 40-50...I think since it’s one of the last ones it will keep value a lot more.. but only time will tell😅 this one I drove was top range and manual I think they would fetch more

Haha...I actually prefer the VE to the VF too. Ive got a VE SS getting cam work done atm. It's my baby and hopefully supercharged one day. The GTS and Senator I don't mind but the VF SS Commos,I just can't get past the side vents,just can't.....all good,I'll keep my car 🙂
