Australia's Vintage Wheat Harvesters Are a Sight to Behold

The Quambatook Harvest Machinery Working Days are held Australia Day weekend in January each year at the Quambatook Tractor Pull Complex. In addition to the working demonstrations there are also static displays, vintage cars, trucks, motorcycles and stationary engines.
Here are some up close videos of a 1898 header stripping wheat.

Ridley! Right way to do it in arid climates. But sure does seem to fire up more often from lightning strikes than sickle cut.

Fascinating! I love old machinery. Why is that wheat crop so short? Is it bred to be this short, or was it a droughty year?

Bit of both, if it’s for grain it only grows so high, but wheat for hay grows ALOT taller
