Uncle Max Harrison, Yuin Elder and Dean Kelly, Yuin man, talk about the meaning and significance of a Smoking Ceremony. The traditional cleansing ritual involves burning native plants and leaves to produce smoke to ward off bad spirits, acknowledge ancestors and pay respect to the land and sea of country.

Being the oldest still living civilization in the world, we should be hearing and learning this in school before learning the history of anywhere else. We should be proud of our Indigenous people. Awesome attitude the Elder has and it's probably the most peaceful way I've heard Australia Day being spoken by an Indigenous Elder. It's a good path toward healing and living in peace. EQUALITY TO ALL AUSTRALIAN'S NEW N OLD.✌️✌️✌️

Joe Blunker hey bra, the local mobs love it when non Indigenous people are interested in our culture. You’re not an outsider, you’re an Australian, like we all are. I’m not too familiar with the mobs down there but just google smoking ceremony south Brisbane. Also if you ring the local indigenous cultural centre they should be able to help with sending you in the right direction or a local elder

Dude when we do smoking ceremonys we don’t actually smoke (like cigarettes, vape or joints) we produce smoke using traditional fires to cleanse the surrounding area and ourselves
