You’re absolutely kill’n it mate. Keep it up. I’d go the clay option for the walls, moss looks great but it’s not practical in our area
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Andrew. Yeah moss is definitely out.

Love the saw horse very practical will save that back, the moss idea was good in theory but as you say it would tale a very long time
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Paul, yeah you know I'm all about taking the easy route so moss is out! lol

Looking great! Moss looks too hard. Keep going 😊
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mel, yeah hard work makes me break out in boils or something so I generally avoid it lol

G’day Alex, I reckon the moss will eventually grow itself on your external mud walls anyway, the south side at least. How about using bracken instead of moss in the cavities ? ( or nothing... ) looks Ike work... Like the saw horse, “That’ll Do Constructions” reminds me of my late brother and my early efforts “Bungle Brothers Constructions” heh heh , the mantelpiece should work out well. Keep going big fella, Copulator, Alan

Cheers Alan, "Bungle Brothers Constructions" sounds right up my alley hahaha Thanks for your ongoing support mate.

Why not use dried leaf litter and small sticks as wall inserts? Will bind with mud just as well, and should give almost same thermo properties. Moss on the roof would look f-ing awesome!! Saw horse is really cool too!
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Lee. Yeah I plan on adding chopped grass to the mud mix first before applying it so I figure that would be less hassle than stuffing stuff into the walls first...and I'm always going to do what I think is the least amount of work! lol And I totally agree that moss on the roof would indeed be fricken awesome!

Shame about the moss, but I gotta agree too much hard fiddly work. Lookin forward to seeing that mantlepiece! Btw, you may have mentioned before but what sort of camera gear are you using? My camera is a bit of a pain for in-camp type shots, yours seems to do really well. Cheers mate👍
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
Yeah if there's a simple option I'll take it haha. The only camera I use is a GoPro Hero 8. It does the job though it's not great in low light, the audio isn't the best and it's no good at close ups. Some day I hope to add a decent DSLR but will have to wait until the channel is making a profit. What camera gear are you using?
@kurts643 жыл бұрын
@@AlexDoes thanks for the quick reply, I've looked into the gopros a bit and learned that they sometimes require a bit of processing to kind of flatten the image out? I'm using a nikon p900,fairly heavy and bulky. it's a good camera but being a superzoom type the lens is not as wide as ideal, I've also smashed the zoom with chips a few times. Used to have a dslr in the past so I'm thinking a small dslr teamed up with either a go pro or tough cam would be ideal. Expense though!
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
@@kurts64 yeah expense is an issue. And if it can be broken I will break it! Lol.

hey mate what kinda gloves are you using ?
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
Just cheap leather gloves from Bunnings. They used to stock no name brand for 9.95 but they've now whacked a brand name on them and charging 19.95.

brother, leave the moss and its associated micro-ecosystems to grow and find something else - waaaay too much effort and its well overshooting the mark to worry about insulation. the mud will do all you need. looking forward to seeing the mantle in position. and yes, pooping in the woods, made me chuckle dude
@AlexDoes3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm with you, except the tree that is that micro-ecosystem I might be cutting up to make roof shingles lol.....and my poop ability is on point for sure haha
