Funny that I always thought they sounded like they had a lobotomy for this song. On youtube I wondered what it might sound like at ).25 faster than the normal speed....hmmm... not bad. Tried playing it at 50% faster than the original speed....... hey that's not bad either and the song finishes sooner.

Most of us Melbourne kids who grew up in the 70’s & 80’s had no idea how good we had it. Turns out the Melb. Pub scene back then was legendary. In a good week we could see Oz Crawl, Cold Chisel,, Midnight Oil, Icehouse, Uncanny X-men, INXS, Painters & Dockers, Pseudo Echo, The Church, The Models, Violent Femmes, & dozens more. When I was in a band we did see this many in a good week, we’d stick our heads in at places like The Corner Hotel, Bombay Rock, Billboard, the Underground, & dozens more, out to the Waltzing Matilda & The Pier. Damn near the perfect decade. I’ll always miss it.

As a young Kiwi living in Brisbane between 1980 / 84 Aussie music was the best in the world. I still have all my vinals in my bar room and I really miss the sound of Aussie music in the early 80's. This song was a hit from the very first time I heard it. Musically it was the best time in my life. Aussie and Kiwi bands rocked my world. Do not forget Goanna or the Reels.

IIRC the Reyne brothers went to Peninsula High School in Mount Eliza, on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia (and most, if not all, of the other guys from Aussie Crawl did too...) I was in Grade 6 when this was released, growing up in country Victoria. Eat, sleep, go to school, ride your BMX with your mates, listen to cool music, play computer games. Things were so much simpler then. This song was part of the soundtrack of our lives back then. Still sounds mint in 2021. Ahh, the 1980's; great times, great music. It was a great song back then and is still a great song today. It seems timeless. It can be relative today and back then. Musical genius.

First time I saw Aussie Crawl was at the Coogee bay hotel in 1981, you could go out with only $20 and buy a packet of smokes and get pissed and get a taxi home. Great days .

I don’t know why. But this song is my all time favourite Aussie crawl song. Even though l don’t know half the lyrics. I love James Rynes voice. Especially how he joins words together so you can barley tells where he finishes. When l first got into crawl, my fav was boys light up. But after hearing there whole hits l love shutdown the most. Especially to sing to.

My first time hearing them was today. I would have loved them in the 80's just as I do now. I agree, very under-rated. Could have made top 10 list in US easily in the 80's.

1985 I was 13 years old in south Brazil. This song was big back then. it was an amazing time , my first "reuniao dancante" . Dance party basically . It all seems like a lifetime away . Unfortunately Brazil is a much different country today. The afro beats took over and it's all been do down hill since then.
