Much of this footage is of TAG(E), Tactical Assault Group (East) training, see the train interior shots. This is our main east coast counter terrorist unit which is made up of operators from the 2nd commando Regiment rotating through the unit. SASR is our west coast counter terrorist group.

2024 update. adf special forces requirements used to be 2 years full time 3-4 part time in a combat role like infantry. now you can sign up with no experience and get trained in 9 weeks. whos idea was it to do that? have no idea. not to mention you need to do 60 situps 40 push ups and a 10.1 shuttle run which is 1.8km - 2.5km depending on the court size.

Doesn't actually work like that. There is a system of Corps enlisted. Everything pretty much happens the same. Go to Kapooka, marchout IET infantry training school the a few months CMDO training. Pass physical entrance test/ barrier test and pass selection then pass reinforcement training. No free ride.

Andrew Wallace SASR is modeled of 22 SAS. 2 Commando Regiment has its amphibious beginnings. So one would say they’re the SBS equivalent. But not sure if they’d be at the same Tier 1 level as 22 SAS and the SBS.

SASR is trained in Maritime Interdiction and VBSS, 2nd Commando is also acquiring the same skills, but none of them are equivalent to SBS, none are boat dedicated units, but Australia have the Clearence Divers, an elite naval unit from the navy that helps the TAGs in maritime ops and can also work with SOCOMD.

How do you get into special forces? Out of curiosity, is their training similar to the US Marine Corps?

Yes. All SF personnel are trained the same.

Ehhhh I think SASR selection is a bit more intense then US
