We should tell them to pronounce it - Ozzie or Ozzee. I guess the ‘ss’ throws them off, only natural, they are saying it the way it’s spelt with ss. It’s us Aussies that change the sound of ss to zz.

@M of course there are more slow, weak, small, sftck people in the world, it makes sense they play soccer. They get to wander up and down a tiny pitch, taking turns to faint. That's it, that's all they do, no-one ever gets excited. Australia is probably the only place on Earth that CAN play Australian Rules Football! The game goes for 2 hours, the players run 10 to 12 miles, a fair % of that is sprinting. getting smashed while they're doing it. They must be ambidextrous, able to leap small buildings and run the 100 in less than 11 seconds. And tough. Tough enough to demolish buildings with their bare hands. Small players are 6 foot, but those over 7 foot find it difficult to run far and fast. Quite simply, AFL players are the greatest athletes on the planet. Watch; "What Is AFL Aussie Rules Explained", followed by "AFL Biggest Hits". Then watch the 2005, 2006, 2018 AFL Grand Finals played in front of 100,000 spectators. You might not emerge from that rabbit hole. Soccer looks quite pale and anaemic after this. BTW, Australian Rules Football is the oldest codified and REGISTERED game of football in the world, 1859, the FIRST and ORIGINAL game of football. Rugby and Soccer/Faintball came much later. Elements of Australian Rules Football were appropriated by other sports.

The next Australian Football International Cup was supposed to go ahead in 2020 but didn’t because of COVID-19. It was going to be rescheduled this year in 2021 and was going to be played on the Sunshine Coast but because of uncertainty around international travel and the financial impacts from the virus, the AFIC will sadly not go ahead in 2021

Absolutely love how other countries, especially America, are trying Aussie rules and growing the game in those countries. Good luck to all USAFL clubs, especially newbies Hawaii Eagles and Richmond Lions, for the 2019 season! Wouldn't mind seeing a new team in New Jersey, Birmingham AL, Jackson MS, South Carolina, Pittsburgh PA, Salt Lake City UT or possibly even Alaska. Those that don’t know what this sport is, it’s called Australian rules football, also known as ‘footy’ and is Australian football. The best sport on the planet and the only professional sport invented in Australia and the AFL or Australian Football League being the premier competition. I definitely recommend that you go to a game, you will have your mind blown. AFL players have a very remarkable amount of skill and the fans flock to games in tens of thousands with the Grand Final in late September every year gets a crowd of at least 100,000

Only two countries have a properly developed Aussie Rules football but in the other country it is not called Aussie Rules football but is the sport closest to Aussie rules football in terms of rules and that is Gaelic Football it is played in Ireland, Gaelic Football is actually much older than Aussie Rules football but both Gaelic and Aussie football players can play both codes.

Go Pies! The Collingwood magpies here in Melbourne wear vertical black and white stripes. A very popular player in the team is Mason Cox from Texas, who had only played basketball before he came to Australia to try out. The link below shows Cox in action. His parents are shown in the stands and the Collinwood crowd was chanting USA USA USA... kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipOnh4SBhtOMpbc The 'pies are again in the play offs (called finals here) on Saturday. It's a winter sport here and the season ends in the southern spring. I think the main reason holding the game back in other countries is the lack of large oval playing fields. Such fields were established for cricket before footy became a sport in the mid 19th century. The footage above shows a game being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, simply known as 'the G' which can hold 100,000 spectators.

It’s good to see people ditching NFL and joining AFL. Also it’s Aussie rules, say it with the accent.

They should do game with the Aussie Rules Champions vs the NFL Champions in a combined rules game like they do with Aussie Rules and Gaelic Football.

The worst part is when your trying to get a really good mark, but the ball busts your finger. It hurts. I kept playing when that happened and it was excruciating. What's worst was someone stepped on it. It was broken..

Think of Aussie Rules as MMA for NFL and basketball. Not really like Rugby because there is no offside rule. There is great freedom of movement and scope for brilliant individual efforts.

So nice to see the Aussies spreading thier version of the game. Meanwhile up in the land of always winter, Canada, guards thier version of Football like it's gold. They don't export it to other nations & they by law try to keep our version of the game out.

I would recommend you do a follow-up story on AFLW (Australian Football League Women) which is professional and players come through a national draft. The Women's league has taken Australia by storm and now has women from other countries nominating for the AFLW draft and are making an amazing impact. Check out "AFLW Highlights: GF v Brisbane" on KZbin, this is 2021 GRAND FINAL in which the Brisbane Lions won 🥰
