You might want to keep in mind that your daylight hours are going to get shorter from next weekend (due to Daylight Saving time ending) as clocks go back one hour from Sunday 2nd April at 3am in all of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory i.e. it gets dark earlier. Good thing is you'll get an extra 1 hour sleep, which might help your jetlag ;-)

Consider the Grand Canyon loop walk in the Blue mountains it has lots of waterfalls and very scenic, my other suggestion is if you are going to Cairns instead of flying there get a greyhound bus with a hop on hop off ticket that way you get to see the countryside and stop at some of the great coastal towns along the way like Bryon bay. Also Tasmania is one of the best most scenic places in Australia if you can make it down there

Regarding your train change at Blacktown you are 100% right that it's a weird place to change at Blacktown. But due to the workers on the track towards the start of your journey, the trains can't get to Central Station's intercity platforms. So they can only bring the trains into Blacktown from the Blue Mountains as there's no where else to terminate them and turn them back.

Weather is a weird thing, if you came at the start of summer, chances are you would have been involved in a flood or 2, if you came a week earlier you would have been at the start of autumn/fall and copping 40c (100 and something f) - hotter than any actual summer day this year, but you are getting a pretty comfy mid 20's just its been overcast and now a little bit of rain. Should be pretty comfy but probably overcast until around June, then it will get cold but there may be one last summer blast to come.

To help with the jet lag, you can purchase Circadin over the counter from a pharmacist cost around AU$30-$40. Take it about an hour before you want to nod off. I finally conquered my Insomnia using this. Australia has suffered wet weather since the Tongan volcanic eruption 2022. It has totally messed up the weather in the Southern Hemisphere for over a year now. We have all the rain whilst China has dry riverbeds 🤷‍♀️. The wet season should be ending soon up North then the dry season begins. The northern Winters are normally dry with 20-24 C sunny days the further north you go. Enjoy your trip.

If the weather is too crappy for walking, there is a bus stop at Echo Point lookout to see the 3 sisters formation, and also a bus stop at Katoomba Falls with a boardwalk to see the falls. I thought it was well worth the cost of a day pass on Scenic World (I think it was $55) but if it is really foggy/rainy give it a miss. There are some other lovely nearby towns on the train line like Leura and Blackheath which are easy to get to be train, or treat yourself to a meal at the Hydro Magestic (near the Medlow Bath train station). I actually love visiting the Blue Mountains when it is raining because it gives it a cool vibe and there are so many cosy cafes.

Loving your videos, it's always interesting to see your own country from someone else's perspective. I love the Blue Mountains. If you want to explore further, a trip down the south coast is also amazing. You can catch a train to Wollongong which is a neat coastal town and then all the way down to Kiama and Jervis Bay (around 3.5hrs from Sydney) - there's some very neat things to see and the whitest beach in the world (Hyams Beach)! and you can also go up the north coast all the way to Palm Beach :) Btw if you get the tripview app on your phone, it tells you which trains you need to catch to anywhere, with times and also warns you of trackworks and changes etc, it's super handy.

I stayed at the City backpacker's hostel right next to Sydney Central Station in 1997. One morning, I bought an AU$ 5 ticket to Katoomba Station to spend two days and a night at a hostel there. The one train I needed to board, an Intercity service to Katoomba and beyond was direct from Sydney Central terminus to my destination, a two-hour journey without the need to change trains. It was July, deep into winter. Yet, on both days the sky was clear and the sun shone. I had a wonderful hike. I hope that you too will experience the dramatic beauty of Blue Mountains NP.

I tend to travel the same way, just booking my next place a day in advance. It can sometimes get tiring though because of decision fatigue. Last summer I traveled through Europe going to a new city every 3 or 4 days and having to sit down and plan out transit, how to get from here to there, train reservations, finding a room at a good rate, reading the reviews to make sure it's not a roach hotel, I got exhausted doing this for an extended time. Not to mention the constant packing and unpacking my bag. I do love the flexibility though. Next time I think I'll spend more time in one location instead of moving so much.

nd a hint - to cope with jet lag, the best way we've found is to immediately start living in the time of the place you've travelled to. It's hard but after the second day at the latest, you'll be right.

Sry the weather is bad for the next few days in Katoomba. I know how it is being so close to a location and not wanting to skip it. The beaches are nice up in qld and the the weather is nice too, but nothing compares to the blue mountains.

I pray that skies clear for you in the Blue Mountains for at least an hour in the next two days. If you are heading in the same direction back to Sydney (before catching a flight or other transport to other places in Australia), I was told about the Featherdale Wildlife Park (zoo) in Blacktown (this town was one of your stops on the train ride in this video) where it is one of the largest collections of Australian fauna (animals) anywhere. Newcastle, New South Wales was also described as amazing beach town in the comments and after researching articles and photos, it really looks nice. Of course, the most iconic points on the continent are Uluru and Great Barrier Reef. I hope that you see as much as you want and you can on this trip.

wow, didn't know it was so wet and miserable in that particular part of Australia at this time of the year -although I once went to Perth in Western Australia in Late September and it rained for the entire two weeks I was there. I guess it was their end of winter at the time.

Katoomba's pretty high up and about 100km (60 miles) inland so it's often foggy/drizzly. Weather in Sydney proper is very different.

Head out to Darwin, Cairns or Brisbane for nice weather Gabriel. The great Australian Barrier Reef is a sight to see. There are super fast trains from Sydney to the North too.

Whilst you are in Australia (and NZ?) there is an app for Hotels and flight called Last Minute which I have used before which provides cheaper prices for available hotels/flights, same day or within the next day or so, that are in danger of not being booked. It is something that I think would suit your travel style and may prove to be cheaper than pre booking well in advance. Cheers!

I’m American and just got back from a 3 week trip to the Uk. While there I stopped at an ALDI and one of the things I bought was a pack of “Luxury Gummy Candy” and it was the best candy I’ve ever had. I just saw an Aldi store there in your video and instantly remembered those candles.

@@7yep4336dfgvvh I'm interested in that too. The more I travel and being from England, I genuinely am disliking my home more each time.

Niiiiiiiice They probably used feet on that Katoomba sign because it's old or trying to be old style. I wish you checked out the south west and southern highlands. Also a pretty easy train ride or drive.

My wife is watching this and saying "he must go to Mount Tamborine"...... she spent 6 months living and working at the Eagle Heights hotel which was apparently once owned by the actor Mel Gibson!

Sunlight can help to reset the body clock when travelling. Unfortunately since you arrived in Au you haven’t had much of that! Maybe taking the opportunity to indulge in Aussie coffee culture may help a little☕️

Before CO-VID many of the hostels in Sydney were charging around $30 a night , now many of them are charging around $100 a night for a dormitory bed which is far too much , in many Asia countries , you can get for around $30 a large self contained suite with many amenities which is excellent value .

For people who love train travel, take the train all the way to Lithgow and then come back to Katoomba. There are some great sights along the way including a heap of tunnels in a row that they call the "Rat Run"/

So weird. There are trains that go from Central to Katoomba without having to change. I was so happy to hear that you were staying for a few nights. You would have struggled to get back home on 25th because there was an issue with the trains. I got stranded in North Sydney trying to get to the CBD. Transport and the city as well as the alternative transport options were chaos

Trackwork. As the train left Central, you could see lots of orange vests on the right.
