The doctor’s handwriting was so misleading that the pharmacist could not give the medication to the customer. Nowadays, lots of deliveries are tracked by a specific code that’s useful to know where an item is. The library needs a custodian to prevent books from getting stolen

Very nice examples, Paolo. Well done! We particularly liked the first one! Although it would be better to say 'The doctor's handwriting was so misleading that the pharmacist gave the wrong medication to the customer.'

@bbclearningenglish5 жыл бұрын
A watchdog is a person or company whose job is to make sure that other companies are acting correctly and following the law. In the same way that a dog will watch a house to keep it safe, a watchdog will 'watch' a company to ensure they aren't doing anything wrong.

Hi BBC! Would you please have subtitle on in this program again? I didn't see an illusion, did I? It seems as if no sooner had I seen this program having subtitle on the other day than it ended that again. I was all the more disappointed because I had been looking forward to you having subtitle on in this program as in 6minutes english all the time so you finally making a decision to deal with that was such a big surprise to me that it felt like my first big pleasure in a long time since I had started watching all the BBC learning English programs. I assume there should be some reasons about that, but please think it over again!! I know it's an unscripted conversation which is tricky to transcribe and It can also give us a chance to improve our listening skills, but I believe that the more choice this program offer to us, the deeper we could learn English from it ; the more choice, the better. Would you please please reconsider it, BBC? ※sorry about writing a post here again and again for rewritnig.

Hi soft76cider We’re sorry that we’re still unable to provide subtitles for News Review at the moment. The subtitles you saw the other day might have been the automatic ones provided by KZbin. We’re impressed by your determination to learn English and we hope that as your English improves, you’ll come to see News Review as a study tool that presents a useful challenge to complement the learning opportunities of our subtitled videos. We wish you continued success with your language learning journey.
@soft76cider5 жыл бұрын
@@bbclearningenglish I appreciate your kind comment and warm advice. Is it possible to simply have the subtitles provided automatically by KZbin on as they were the other day? That will be enough. I'll be satisfied with just that. Although I'm not sure whether or not you have a choice to actually have them(provided automatically by youtube) on, I did see them on in nealy all the News Review archives for a moment( then you(?) ended right away). My joy was short‐lived. Those subtitles(even if they were the automatic ones provided by KZbin) were my first big pleasure in a long time since I had started watching this program. What were those at all? You didn't ended right away for some reason, did you? There are always some words in News Review I just can't hear no matter how hard I try;I' ve been listening to it for about 5 years. Certainly I don’t have what it takes to learn English, but I guess, based on the comments similar to mine I often see here in News Review videos, there should be many people thinking about the same thing. As I said above comment, I think the more choices, the better. That makes a big diifference(to me at least). Sorry. maybe that is a trivial matter. No offense meant. Simply I was disappointed. Your programs are great.
