How about a more inclusive date that is not all about the settler colonialists? Like the 21st of May. The 21st of May 1962 was when indigenous Australians were actually given the right to vote at the federal level. It's hard to argue Australia was a fair and egalitarian democracy before then. That is the date when, at the federal level at least, EVERYBODY's voice counted.

The celebrations will commence with a Welcome to Country Proclamation: Welcome to my country. I'd like to acknowledge the early pioneers who came to this country over two hundred years ago and developed an almost uninhabitable land by establishing farms, roads, schools, hospitals, towns and cities, railways, ports and harbours, universities, health clinics, telecommunications, factories and industries, warm (or cool) comfortable homes, shopping centres, a reliable abundant food supply, libraries, clean water, electricity and gas, airlines, the mining industry ... the list goes on. @@majorlaff8682 "almost uninhabitable land" First nation blood has been on Australian land for over 50,000 years buddy. Maybe you should check your facts. Why build roads when we can run vast distances? Aboriginals had crops better then England at the time. Aboriginals guided your pioneers through the bush so they didn't pass, we told you where to build, what to eat, where to plant, medicines.

If we change the date, there will still be protests on whatever date we change it too. I have no issue with changing/keeping the date personally, but I don't see the point in changing it purely to virtue signal. If people want to celebrate Australia Day on the 26th Jan, let them. Australia is a great country with a dark past but also a great past. Like every other country.

Every year this issue is brought up and every year Australians want to celebrate our day to recognise who we are as as a nation. Enough already. We voted how we feel about the yes vote….time to move on.

" We voted how we feel about the yes vote" and our State Governments went against our, (majority), wishes and implemented the "agenda" anyway.

Good to see most Australians are proud of their country. I am sure that the majority of those don’t are from the Left and most of those are university educated!

The difference is Peter Dutton spoke up said a vote for liberal is a vote for one people one flag , You will all keep your freedom of speech , And Australia day will remain on the 26th and we will all celebrate it. If he does win the election and it is looking like he will i hope he keeps his word. If he does not we will do to him like we are about to do to Albanese. A one term wonder that archived dividing the country.
