The Austrians used to have a wide stance at 2015 Interski. Now they have narrowed their stance and delayed their transition to the new ski. Without a wider stance they tend to swivel like mogul skiers and therefore loose their angulation. I suggest that they look at Marcel Hirscher and Mikaela Shiffrin videos.

It seems there is more focus on shifting weight on the outside ski (which is a good thing), however, this forces one to keep a narrower stance (try to tip your ski's, and shift your weight on the outside ski with a wide stance; spoiler: you can't).

Some of the world's best ski with a narrower stance. As long as you're open enough to have foot and leg independence that's all you need.

Austrians still teaching extension releases. Hmmmm

Ian Dunn that was in relation to basic turns, at faster speeds it becomes much more lateral, with a different timing of the “up and forward” move to go with the lateral move. But yeah, up and forwards... but it’s hard to argue with where their elite skiing ends up

SnoSurfer They look like pogo sticks coming down the hill. Quiet upper body they are not. For the average skier big extensions mean late edge sets, poor speed control and z shaped turns.

@@iandunn9497 it's important to note what they were delivering on this workshop. I agree the video doesn't represent their usual expertise of pressure control, or a world cup level of float and impulse, but that wasn't what they were presenting (I was there for this one!)

SnoSurfer The bottom line is these guys demonstrate and ski with a very different technique to Harb’s documented Primary Movement Teaching System where zero extension release is taught. It is the polar opposite of what is being demonstrated in this formation Interski routine and in the clinic. I’ll say it again, big extension releases result in late, Z shaped edge sets. It not difficult to understand that if you are standing tall at the top of the turn tipping skis on edge is going to be slower. It’s obvious what that means for the inexperienced skier. You may achieve being centred but to the detriment of the rest of the turn mechanics.

@@iandunn9497 oh, you're a Harbite, which means there's only one goal, one way of applying movements and everyone else is wrong... However, I will agree the formation skiing from the Austrians was pretty disappointing, but the rest of the video shows plenty of their strengths, and how talented they are at pressure control... But because you've probably managed to completely misunderstand the bigger picture of skiing it's likely going to be a real challenge to expand your knowledge and mindset beyond the brainwashing you've paid for.
