On this day in 1989, the Dragon single “Young Years” debuted on the Australian charts (April 17) The song was from Dragon’s ninth studio album “Bondi Road”, which was the last album of new material to be released during Marc Hunter's lifetime. It was also Dragon’s final Top 40 hit, peaking at #13 in New Zealand and #18 in Australia. The song was written by Dragon keyboard player Alan Mansfield, and Sharon O’Neill. In the context of Marc Hunter’s death less than ten years later, the poignant lyrics looking back carry an extra emotional layer, which struck a chord with many fans… That’s Wendy Matthews on backing vocals, and Tommy Emmanuel on guitar.

Love Marc & Dragon so much. I met him back in the early 1980's in Kings Cross. My sister & I were in a coffee shop & in walked Marc with a friend. Nowhere to sit so he asked if he could share our table!! I calmly said yes but was so excited at age 16. Marc was so lovely. We talked for hours !! And he bought us lunch. When we parted ways my older sister asked me "who the f*** was that". Yes, true story. My sister committed suicide December 27th so I am in tears when I watch Dragon vids as they take me back to that amazing, funny & beautiful memory. Love them both & miss them so much.
