For follow musicians/drummers/beat makers who are wondering : BPM : 100 A cycle is 5 bars long A bar is 7 beats long ( 7/4 ) You can hear 2 cycles in the intro, the 2nd starts at 0:21. There are 9 cycles in all the track. You can hear the last cycle at 2:48. And the key is a fucking ridiculously simple A minor. Melody : E1, E2, A0, C2, G1, E2, D1, A1, F2, F1, E2, E1, D2, B1, E2, D1, F1, E2, A1 then D2. I hope this will be useful for someone.

@@robertordonez9242 Autechre quite liked their Nord Lead around the time of EP7/LP5, so that would be a decent guess.

This track is so abstract. Its that feeling when uts late at night. Ur body is tired and ur om the verge of falling asleep but u cant. All u can do is toss and turn and ur just getting tired of being tired. But ur too comfortable in bed.

As I was listening to this two years ago, aproximately, I remember going "What the shit? What just happened?". Now I'm nodding my head to this, just chilling out. It's weird how you develop musically (both as a listener and an artist) in such a short matter of time. Great stuff this. I also like the fact that this has over a million views.

My very capability to describe this with language falls short. The words cacophony, ensemble or anything I think of can not touch this music. Beyond masterful and extremely touching. Watching this video and discovering this makes me feel more human.

I think you'll be surprised just how many artists have actually been influenced by Autechre. It's like how John Cage was doing unusual things in his time, and he didn't really care what others thought. Yet thanks to his little sound sketches he opened new areas in music and other musicians took influence from that. And that's how I feel about Autechre. Alot of their songs I feel are more like 'sketches' of great ideas. Obviously everyone interprets things different but that's how I view it.

This is the first song i heard from these guys and it still blows me away. I guess its because less is more in the music industry. Im done with lyrics. I believe that so much can be conveyed with the absence of words. Like one of my favorite writers once said, 'words, they only complicate the task'

That's exactly what this music is. It's abstract. This was released in 1999 aswell so putting that into perspective this is an impressive song. This EP sits perfectly in Autechre's lifecycle too, as their earlier albums were more ambient techno and each album got more progressively experimental. There comes a point when making music that you end up getting 'bored' so progression is the next logical step, and these boys actually weren't afraid to do it.

a few years ago, i listened to this wanting to like it, but not knowing how to approach it. ive left my days of listening to electronic music and gone back to indie, post rock, post hardcore, emo, and the likes. although, i held onto a few treasures from the electronic music world. a few autechre song titles popped in my head and i came back here. now i see it. this is truly compositionaly fantastic. only negativity i can give is that the compression doesnt seem tight enough on the percussion.

Pushing the boundaries of what you do as a musician is probably the most satisfying thing possible. And that in itself demands respect. I can understand why people won't / don't like Autechre, but for me personally they're sort of have this mentality similar to my own. An appreciation of electronic gear and pushing it further, that is actually very addictive. Anyways you're always going to need artists like this, where other musicians can draw influence from.

this is making me realize why people say "Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding" by Venetian Snares is the best Autechre album never made. Great song!
@BIadelores9 жыл бұрын
Really? Everything I've heard by VS has reminded me of Aphex Twin far more than ae. I'm pretty sure Vs has counted Afx on his influences numerous times. I'm guessing Chrome Box is very different from the rest of his output then?
@eiaaiaiia9 жыл бұрын
drukQs yeah check it out, there's not too much else like it in the world!
@Jez4prez19 жыл бұрын
If you want to hear the closest thing to sounding like them both then listen to the track 'elephant gear', both ae and VS shared files for that track. From what I remember Autechre provided the sounds and VS sequenced it. So even though that track is using mostly Autechre sound sources it still sounds nothing like ae, it sounds like a VS track to me and his signature is still all over it. They're just too different to one another imo, and the more you listen to their discographies the more obvious it becomes. Honestly I would say Autechre are closer to BoC than they are to VS. Obviously that's a big stretch to compare them to BoC, but that's the point, but I would still say they're closer to them than they are to VS..(i.e. comparing BoC back in the Skam days with Autechre's old output and some of their Gescom material etc. Both are very ambient orientated and heavily hip-hop influenced..similar melancholy vibes in tracks, similar gritty sampler signatures, similar gear tones back then with roland analog synths, samplers etc). In the end it's all subjective though so whatever lol. :-)

Jez4prez1 yah I definitely agree with everything you're saying here.

Also: "Usage of the term "Intelligent Dance Music" has been criticised by electronic musicians such as Aphex Twin and is seen by artists such as Mike Paradinas as being peculiar to the U.S"
