The piano is from The Doo-Bop Song - Miles Davis. I've known this track for ages and just randomly pressed shuffle on autechre's profile. Im simply blown away

it doesn't sample Miles Davis, they've both got the same sample. Original is DJ Premier in Deep Concentration by Gang Starr

There's so much character and emotion pouring from Incunabula and Amber. Sometimes limitations set you free.

This is eerie to how close this sounds to a modern Hiphop beat, then again I’ve always felt like IDM/downtempo always had a similar connection to instrumental Hiphop
@rahulbaidh3 жыл бұрын
Almost all of BOC beats are fundamentally hip-hop oriented. It's just their sound design and harmony that gives cerebral touch to their music.
@carloscampillomartinez23492 жыл бұрын
To be honest, hip hop and Detroit Techno have a lot of similarities, maybe not in sound, but in their historical context and development during the 80s, so i think that when all this music jump to UK & Europe in the 90s, it was natural for some people to experiment mixing characteristics of the two worlds (electronic music and hip hop, which is also electronic in some aspects). Trip Hop it's most obvious but not the only one. Even what people call today lo-fi hip hop it's like a hip hop version of ambient techno/IDM from the 90s

O:42 For me is that boundary being broken down when you have come up and entered the realm on a speckled dove. For me its tinged with sadness because even though you were having the time of your life unlike no human being had ever experienced before deep down you knew that one day it would be over. For me my era ended in 1998.

@@wavsnackssss Everyone says the piano sample is originally from Summer Madness, but here's the track: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aISppWqAfdx9m8k Which part specially is sampled? Because all I'm hearing is a similar sounding (but not quite the same) synth / electronic piano chord pattern. EDIT: That's because it's *not* from Summer Madness - people have been lazily saying it's from there for years because it sounds sort of similar. It's actually from 'The Awakening' by the Ahmad Jamal Trio. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHWmoXSmfLuLjck
