Patrick, just bought one! Was going to buy a Grizzl-e Smart EVSE, but the “smart” features are a little suspect! The Ford mobile charger appears to be poorly design, as it tends to throttle the charging amps when it gets a little warm… Thanks for the timely review, Bill P 7/22/22 update Just installed unit today, packaging was exceptional. Installation was fairly quick. So far, love the app…., love being able to put in our exorbitantly high electric rate I have scheduling & autostart turned off. Did a quick 1/2 hour charge, starting from the app. Rock steady at 7.2kw I have the unit software limited to 32 amps. I am going to go in and mechanically adjust for a max of 32 amps. Now need to make sure unit comes on, based on vehicle charge settings….. Happy I saw this video, and more happy I purchased the unit & saved 10% ! Bill Pitman

Great review. I like the ability to reduce amperage. If you go to the lowest amperage to give you a full charge in your time available, it should help give you maximum battery life

I looked at this one but ended up getting a Grizzl-e. Love it. Also after the update I went on a trip this weekend seems like the car charges faster on public chargers now as well.

Excellent review, thanks for sharing. They are running a sale on these periodically on Amazon. Just ordered one today for $447, and will have it installed in time for my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe to arrive.

I'm glad to see that the unit is UL listed, as that should be a requirement for any EVSE. Do you think it's a concern that the max current is software settable instead of manually done via hardware? I've seen far too many cases of bugs/"unintended features" in software to fully trust such an important setting to a configuration screen. I could see some value, perhaps, to being able to temporarily back off on the charging current to save the grid from excessive draw when it's not necessary, so a "set to 20A for this session" setting could be interesting. How stiff was the charging cable? Any thoughts on how pliable it might be in colder temps?

The Autel unit does have a hardware dial inside the unit where you can manually limit amperage. Remove the front cover screws and you can access the dial. It is mentioned in the users manual of the device.

If you set it on a schedule but let’s say you need an immediate charge, can you plug it in then pull it out right away then plug it back in to start the charging? Basically ignoring the schedule at that time, kind of like how ChargePoint Home Flex does it.

Hey Patrick! Thanks for this informative video. I was curious to know how this charger compares to the ChargePoint one. That’s the one I have and I know you did too. Did you decide to go with this new one because it is better?

How long did a full charge take?

Considering this unit while I wait for my 2023 Mach E. Under My Charger.. Installation Mode, are there options there? I'm trying to determine if Autel's home units support operating two chargers on one circuit breaker like the Juicebox and WallBox do. I think Autel calls it load balancing DLB and ALB. Any glitches with leaving the charging schedule in the Mach-E and the charger not recording the correct statistics for the charging session? Can anyone comment on that? Some reviewers have mentioned the only way to get the stats correct is to manually stop the session in the app. Hopefully that's been fixed. Overall looking at this charger vs. the Chargepoint Home Flex and the Juicebox.

I was in the Air Force with your brother Todd and we worked together on the same contract after retirement. I have a MACH-E scheduled for production on 7Nov22. What home charger do you currently use? Thanks, Randall D.

Cool! I'm currently using the Emporia charger. They are a local company here in Denver and I'm doing some testing for them. But I really did like this Autel charger. What Mach-E did you get and what color?

@@MachE_VLOG thanks for the info on the charger. I ordered a tricoat white Premium, rear-wheel drive amd extended range battery. I had the Autel in my Amazon cart for flas sale $100 off but didn't pull the trigger and price went back up. Lol

Great review, thanks Patrick! Question: if internet goes down for any reason but power is still on, will the charger still charge or not? And if so, will it charge at the manually selected amperage (32 amps) or 40 amps or another rate? I’m leaning toward getting this charger but am concerned with how the smart charger will function if WiFi craps out compared with a “dumb” charger that will charge as long as there’s power. Thanks!
@MachE_VLOG8 ай бұрын
The settings are stored on the charger itself so if WiFi or the internet goes down, you are fine. You won't be able to remotely monitor your charging or remotely start/stop a session with your phone, but otherwise it will function as normal.

Anyone else with the Autel unit noticing that the amp setting in the smartphone app keeps resetting back to 40amps?
@mowcowbell2 жыл бұрын
I think I answered my own question... the amp setting is still set, it's just not refreshing on the smart phone app.

At 14:57 it shows a maximum of 32A, but it’s labeled as a 40A charger? Can it charge at 40 Amps or not?

Can the 40 amp maxi be hardwired?
@MachE_VLOG7 ай бұрын
It can, but I would just order one of the versions of Autel that is already set to be hardwired: amzn.to/3VDKLA9

Kannst du die app auch nutzen wenn du nur im wlan bist? Und nicht in Bluetooth Reichweite? Ich kann die app nur voll nutzen wen ich Bluetooth aktiviert und in reichweite bin das kann doch nicht der sinn sein oder?
