Great video.. I'm not a mechanic however I can do most things on my own car and my friend's cars. I just had an issue with my Left Headlight control module as I used the MBII to see what was up. I lost my left lights except my DRL. I ordered a new module and to save cost, I installed it myself (which was easy). I didn't test the new module but my DRL remained working however my right side started to do some weird stuff. I was able to book a week later to Mercedes to program the module but when they tried they said they could not see the module and figured it has to do with a wiring related issue. I advise them that I had many code come up, (General Error) and as such many time the CAM disconnects the power and that they should cycle the modules. He didn't believe this. Anyways I requested to pick up the car and see what was wrong on my own without further cost. When I picked up my car I noticed my DRL were working on both sides, and there were no codes on my dash. I connected my MBII to guess what, the module showed up. My thought is when the code errors come up, CAM disables power however after they returned the car to me, the module woke up and handshaked. Now I figure the error will only happen once the car request lights on, as they drive it into the shop. How can I get it programmed without the lights turning on and produced the error that CAM will take over and cancel any handshake? Thanks

Hey Cirtus, awesome video. I have the ultra tried programming two different headlights with Mercedes and no luck. Called Autel US support they tried also still no luck. And they did a data log and no one has ever got to me. It’s a GREAT tool I use it everyday especially BMW programming and coding, it’s great. But with benz I just never had luck with ultra on programming. Thanks a lot for the great video :)

I have a Mercedes E Cabriolet (a207) with intelligent Bi-Xeons. I had the left headlight replaced due to a scratch on the lens. Now when I start the car the headlight go cross-eyed as part of the startup diagnostics. Can I download the original Firmware for my car and apply it using the MS919, and apply to both headlights to get the original behaviour back? If I order the MS919 is there anything else I should order at the same time?

Hi, I programmed a left front head light from water intrusion. It also wiped out the control module due to corrosion. I have replaced both and programmed/coded both and also inputted the data matrix QR codes in each of the modules. However, after clearing all codes, I get low beam/high beam internal electrical fault codes and the left front head light will come on but will pulse 4 times and then cut out. Head light and module are from our local Mercedes dealership. I have tried the unthinkable amount of things with no solution. Only thing I can think of is either a programming/coding issue. Thoughts?? Vehicle is : 2017 Mercedes Sl450 with LED intelligent light system

I think it was a new one. Usually on Mercedes they dont accept used modules. You would need to virginise the modules first. Then flash program it with the autel

Hello I have an autel Ms909 and I'm having issues getting the correct SCN code for a customers 2014 e350. Ive contacted autel tech and they have sent me one scn code, which didn't work. It actually made my situation worse. Ive been in touch with tech support but is it a guessing game them in regards to the correct scn code? I see on yours it has a listing of 3 or 4 different scn codes.

Hey great video. I just last week went through changing a 16 c300 headlamps and modules. No programming was needed. Can you explain why? The headlamps were LED OEM but used. The ballast/modules were aftermarket new. Everything worked plug and play. Why did this happen here?

From what I understand they head lights might still operate but they will not be optimized to work properly. It also depends on the year make and model. Some older models may not require it. But the newer models do require it. What I would do is check to OEM repair information and see what they say because there is no way to know which vehicles require programming or no programming. It varies year by year.

Can a used PCM with same part # be installed successfully on a 2017 Mercedes GLA 250 using a MaxiSys Elite with a current update subscription? As far as updating all the existing modules of BMWs and Mercedes Benz cars that show newer levels, to justify a programming fee , I would charge a customer, I can't think of any examples where an OE manufacturer would instruct you to update any module of a vehicle with an aftermarket Chinese J2534 with secondhand files downloaded from a server based in China

I doubt it. Usually with benz you need to virginze the module then you can program it with the elite.

I dont know what year your car is but it might not be needed. Ive programed headlamps with the Elite which doesnt have any qr capture camera and I was still able to program it

Hi, I have a headlamp control module out in my 2010 E350. Water damaged according to the dealer. If I buy a new module from Amazon or eBay, would I need to get it programmed by the dealer or no?

Usually all new modules need to be flash programmed. ( I always check the OEM repair information to be sure ) If you dont have the equipment to program it or code it . Then you need to take it to a dealer

I would say No due to the fact that OEM tools will always supersede aftermarket tools. However the autel does have alot of features that will allow you to do day to day functions / coding on that particular vehicle. Im sure the price is cheaper than the OEM tool as well. So they both have their pros and cons.

I would say so. You might not need to do the qr code thing as they didnt have them on older vehicles but the process is still the same.

HI Charles.. you cant program for BMW or Benz with out a valid subscription. The other manufactures you can program with a laptop and your VCMI no problem. You just need to download the software from the OEM site and purchase their day subscription .

I personally havent had any success using the IM608 for programming BMW. When I attempted this the option wasn't there. However there were some of my subscribers that said it was on their. I wish Autel would have consistent software and procedures amongst their myriad of scantools. I have an MS909, and of the five Mercedes headlamps I've tried to program, none of them programmed, and the process looks completely different on the 909 than it does here on your 919. Furthermore, I have yet to see a shop use a new module. Insurance won't pay for it unless it's physically damaged, so they swap the still perfectly good old modules onto the new headlamp, which begs the question, why does it even need to be programmed and coded at all? It's frustrating, because most of the shops I service are a $900 tow bill from the nearest Mercedes dealer, who then charges them $1200 to do what my Autel says it can do, but can't. And because you asked, I charge $610 for Euro module programming. Or rather, I would, if the bloody thing would work. I've lost over $3,000 in revenue over the last six months on Mercedes alone, and inconvenienced two of my highest volume shops. :(

I think you need a consultant . The biggest problem that I have with Autel as a whole is that their ecosystems seems to be more focused on sales vs really helping their customer solve problems like these. My clients also get this same problem, the difference they have someone that can give understanding why the programming may have failed, and more importantly when it fails, to have an alternative solution that will solve the problem. I don't know where you purchased your tool from but , they don't have a clue that your having this situation and I feel its their responsibility to sort this situation out since they sold you the tool. Lastly I would encourage to change your mindset and instead of saying " I cant program these modules anymore" instead of saying " how can I program these modules" . When this problem happened I had to ask myself "how" and over time I found a solution. Yes your tool should be able to do this procedure but its not and you have to adjust.

My clients will send me the VIN number then ill check with my engineer to see if the programming is available. If its available then we can do the programming. If its not ill give my clients another solution to program the module.

@@jorgemat8080 Hi Jorge, Ill take a deep look into as well as get my engineers input. Generally speaking the Im608 doesnt have flash programming for bmw and benz. They purposely left these features off and alocated them to the Ms909 , 919 and ultra. This is why you wont see the im608 being marketed for benz flash programming. If it was then there would be little use for the other models that I mentioned in terms of programming

I have a 2017 E series coming in this week for a headlight replacement and the im608 is going to be my first choice if it fails then I have other brand-name tools that can do it. Will update you on the results. Thanks. Forgot to mention, I do a lot of BMW headlight programming with IM608 and never had an issue BMW headlights takes about 10 minutes.

@@jorgemat8080 Hi Jorge, I received an email from my engineer and they told me they added BMW Programming and Coding and Benz SNC Coding DAS , ECU TCU ISM and ESL . This good news for im608 owners. The only thing that you might run into just because your vehicle is newer is that your VIN may not be covered. What I recommend my clients to do is ( maybe you can ask Autel New York) before you do the procedure, find out if its covered by sending them the VIN number. This way they can tell you before hand if it is covered or not and you wont be wasting time.

Uhmm Curtis, you created a fault code in the R Headlamp that wasn't there on the pre scan. You now have to figure out what you did. Maybe you should have left right side alone?

I asked the engineer about this and they said to program both when the autel prompts you. But from my experience when you program both headlamps , then the programming corrupts the other headlamp. This is what caused the error code. I dont remember what we did on this situation to solve the problem but logically I would try to program the module individually and see if that clears the code . If that doesnt work Ill use another software to do the programming / coding of the module

Thats correct . Benz turned off access to their servers for newer vehicles. You will be safer with 2016 and older . I would recommend to get contact with your supplier to help you match the data from the autel servers as the first programming attempt will probably fail until the servers are open to match the data

HI Sameh, It really depends on which region / market you are in. One of my clients in new york charged 300 USD as the dealer wanted to charge 600 for the procedure. Im not sure which market you are in but I personally think your charging to low. ( unless everyone in your market is charging low programming prices) . You should charge for your talent , not your clients budget.
