I think it’s a perfect Bengali platter. Definitely there are so many things missing .. but no one can cook and eat all Bengali dishes at one time. Chandrima tried to cook and present all traditional Bengali variety of taste here.. great job. I really appreciate her effort. The overall video is very impressive.

@amritasingharay30955 жыл бұрын
@@NotOutoftheBox sorry to say but panch phoron has nothing to do with radhuni. Radhuni is the dried fruit of Trachyspermum roxburgianum. And Panch phoron is a mixture of fenugreek seed, nigella seed, cumin seed, black mustard seed and fennel seed in equal parts and trust me i know that. And sorry i didn't notice if kachkola was there.
@NotOutoftheBox5 жыл бұрын
Amrita Singha Ray there are two different blend of panch phoron available in the market one has mustard seeds one doesn't, if radhuni is not available they mix in mustard seeds into it. The panch phoron I always get from Kolkata combines Fennel seeds/Mouri, Radhuni/Wild celery seeds, Feungreek seeds/Methi, Nigella seeds/Kalojinre, and Cumin seeds/Jeera...hope this helps.
@MystqStar5 жыл бұрын
@@amritasingharay3095 We have never used radhuni in our cooking...mostly because we have lived in Mumbai and radhuni is not common there, and secondly one adapts to whatever taste suits them best. @Abhijit Karmakar I disagree . Perhaps that is true in West Bengal but it certainly isn’t true in other parts of India . Even if hilsa were available off season, it’s either frozen or overly priced (and small) and not affordable for everyone. And can I add that Bengali markets are not available everywhere in India either .
@lalruatpuiikhiangte70303 жыл бұрын
Anyone who claims that the lovely hostess is missing certain dishes is being completely unreasonable. Come on!!!! When you invite people for a home cooked meal, do you cook every single dish in your repertoire??! No. And no guest can eat that much! She cooked a fabulous authentic Bengali meal which looks delicious so just appreciate the video for what it is. An insight to Bengali home cooking (NOT a documentary on every Bengali dish known to man) 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Why? I have lived in Mumbai for 25 years and I can cook Bengali food as good as anyone in Bengal..easy to pass comment sitting at home no? :)
@MystqStar5 жыл бұрын
@Deserve Not DesireTouchè my dear..and there is ZERO validity in the comment ..It isn't possible to cook a humongous amount of dishes for a 20 min video slot. A basic Bengali meal comprises of shukto dal bhaja maach mangsho chanti payesh..which has been served..we can of course add to it. There is no hard and fast rule what one has to cook and serve. Yes shaak could have been added, but again, it's all about preference and ease. It's food, not the end of the world. The problem is that it's easy to criticize..why don't you try and appreciate the effort that goes into even a simple meal? And let's not forget that this was obviously a free meal that the channel owner enjoyed in lieu of this video. No one is obligated to lay down a red carpet down for anyone..
