If he remained sound, happy and healthy for another year, I am telling you now, he probably would've been one of the best horses we've ever seen. Horses like that are what the racing world needs. Just gonna say this but to the people in the back saying this stallion should of continued to run, you're no damn fan if you put more value on his racing career, which by the way, he's proven himself worthy to be retired, something most great horses never got, as apposed to being retired to reduce injury or gods forbid death. You're the SAME people saying he should be raced but if he were to break down are the SAME ONES who would point an angry finger at the owners for being GREEDY. No Felicias, it's YOU who are greedy. This stallion has proven himself. Leave him alone and let him enjoy his damn retirement, a damn well earned retirement.
@Re-tg3sl3 жыл бұрын
*Should have. Last time I checked, it's called 'horse racing' not 'horse breeding' so that's exactly what a fan is: valuing the horse's racing career and wanting the horse to race for as long as they are sound. This old story about 'he had nothing more to prove' is absolute bullshit. Authentic absolutely had more to prove by running in more. . prestigious races, the Pegasus World Cup, he could have shipped to run in the Dubai World Cup, like California Chrome and Gun Runner, he could have gone for a second Breeders' Cup Classic and become only the second horse to win two BCC.
@kathrynhoward41963 жыл бұрын
@@Re-tg3sl Exactly. I can't believe there are idiots who try to make fans feel guilty for wanting horses to actually race instead of being whisked off to the breeding shed. Disgusting.

@@akibawolfproductions Actually, no, I wouldn't. As I said, it's called 'horse racing' not 'horse breeding'. So that's what the horse is supposed to do: race, not be whisked off to the breeding shed as soon as he wins a big race. I rest my damn case.
@akibawolfproductions3 жыл бұрын
@@Re-tg3sl No actually you don't because I've had people like you say the same damn thing, then when Barbaro, Eight Bells, and others, have broken down, they've pointed an angry finger at the owners and called them GREEDY. Also you CLEARLY don't have a grasp on what horse racing fully entails. There are contracts that are filled out PRIOR to a horse ever stepping foot on ANY track. Those contracts can be as min as he/she needs to win THREE races, or as large as the horse needing to win SEVERAL grade 1 stakes races. Or, they can be as little as winning one race and then being moved from their racing career and into semi retirement. My entire family, myself included, has worked in this industry for several years. My dad even met Big Red and met Penny. There are ALWAYS contracts that MUST be signed by all parties involved and at the END OF THE DAY, it's the OWNER'S DECISION on what THEY choose and decide is BEST for THEIR ANIMAL. NOT YOU. You are a NOBODY to them. You're a 'fan' that's it. But end of the day, you do not pay their vet bills, finances, etc. A multi million dollar race, barley breaks some racing studs even during lean years and COVID19 has had a MASSIVE impact on how racing is done and even seen and viewed. It's had MASSIVE and widespread implications on how votes and betting are cast. Anyone with even half a brain can tell you this. Many tracks have shut down for the entire 2020 season, opting only to run MAJOR races as apposed to their smaller 'filler' races that normally run between the bigger races. This saving the track alot of time but costing it alot more money. Breakdowns have been less this year because the high impacts on the horses aren't there. They're not being forced to run in back to back to back races, like they were LAST YEAR but the RISK is still there. Furthermore, if you knew ANYTHING about this stud's pedigree, you'd know his entire bloodline are prone to breaking down at a YOUNG AGE. They're highly prone to other, often life threatening problems as well. On top of this, he's a Big Red AND Bold Ruler great, great, great grandbaby. There aren't many horses today, with TWO great race horses on their pedigree like that. So the need to protect them is much greater, considering several of Big Red's grandbabies have ended up on slaughter trucks as they slipped through the cracks at several auctions. So no, if all YOU care about is a horse being run into the damn ground, then no, you're not a fan, you're just a greedy person who doesn't give a damn about the horse's safety or well being which CLEARLY, as much as people want to bash his trainer, his trainer CLEARLY cared more for this stallion, than you do.

It's mostly about that. But the horse accomplished some great things and there is real danger in horse racing. Training is not easy and there is always the danger of bad breakdowns that not only ruin a career - but end the horses life. If I were the owners I would probably do the same thing - even though I wish it did not have to be this way.

@@kathrynhoward4196 I agree he was retired in part because of greed. But what would you have said if they kept racing this colt and he broke down in the morning or afternoon and died? What would you say then? Horse racing is a business. There are millions paid for these horses. Yes, it would be nice if they could run more as four and five and six year olds. But the racing game is dangerous enough as it is. The horse won The Kentucky Derby. He won the Breeders Cup Classic. He was very good. I would also retire him to a life of much more safety while making millions more. The owners can make large amounts of money with this horse and not risk his life. If you want outstanding horses to race longer, you have to have more geldings. Even in the old days, many of the top runners that had longer careers were geldings such as Kelso and Forego. I think it used to be pretty standard practice to geld horses, more so than now, anyway. Secretariat retired to stud at three, so this is nothing new for stallions.
@claudeyaz Жыл бұрын
They are thinking of the long-term of the sport. For example before the chosen Dynasty in Korea they had a system it was sort of like a class bloodline system. Where are the top bone class would mainly be royals and if they married one person who was the second class, they could never regain the first class status. So what happened? They ran out of Royals, and then with the week ending of the Chinese dynasty that was affiliated revolution and another Dynasty takes its place. I think they are trying to increase the number of thoroughbreds and trying to vary up the gene pool some. But before those regulations to get into effect I think they're trying to get their champions with as many different types of mares as possible. Instead of the same mares that will cause inbreeding issues.. Plus people would be mad if they ran her horse for too long and they get injured. That's actually what happened to authentic's father. And to mischief ran well and then he had a foot injury and he finished out that season and then was out to stud. But he has proof and to be a sire of sires. Which is a big deal and I think they're trying to increase the strength of not just male winners, but male winners who children also become winners

Yep! What other sports do the athletes retire so young when at the top of their game? And when I mean young, I mean young like in the same as a 22 to 25 year old. It is a major problem in horse racing that The Breeders Cup was actually started to fix - the retirement so early of great horses. The thought was to make the money so good in some of the big races they would keep on running these horses. But it has not worked. And I do not think what they have done with Authentic is bad. If I were the owners I would do the same thing. The money is huge, the dangers are real - Authentic gets to retire safe and sound and to a great life. But it is sad that this is the only sport where the athlete becomes a true star and almost immediately they are retired.

Risk vs reward. The owner hvea mare, he can't wait to breed to. Nadal was the best 3yr old,& he got hurt. This is why you retire this monster.

Never retire a horse on a shameful down streak. Always retire at the summit in their careers.

If you're breeding to race, and pay that 75k stud fee good luck! His trainer's runners usually out run their pedigree.

So you don't know anything about pedigrees because he has a hell of a pedigree again another dumbass

@@genedavis9530 I know about pedigree! You're a stupid ass...How many of Into Mischief's runners have won stake races beyond 9 furlongs?

Now days the Stallion's semon is frozen, shipped & artificially insemination. Most of the time. Big $ on the line, plus you don't want your Stallion's back legs/anklets getting screwed up from to much screwing in horsefleash. Gotta watch your Stable hands and trainers for unauthorized breeding. A heap knows but A few see's.

TB breeding is all live cover. Mares covered is sent to the Jockey Club, any "unauthorized mares" wouldn't have registerable foals, and DNA on foals will guarantee parentage. You are living about 50 years behind the rest of us in all of this.

That is the quarter horse world, not the TB world. By the way these race horses are still babies. They don’t even stop growing until 5, 6 or 7.
