Many people have lost connection with their inner authority. So when they sense confidence that promises to solve their problems, they gravitate towards it.
This is the path of the typical influencer.
They’re trying to build a “cult” following that does whatever they tell them to do… including to buy whenever they tell them to. The influencer might use charm, persuasion, and clever copywriting to get it done.
None of these methods sit right with me. I don’t want to be your guru.
I would rather help my audience regain their sovereignty… to do whatever small thing I can to help them wake up - to their own power.
Although slower, this still can build a true social media following, but in a healthier, more sustainable way...

I loved hearing your perspective on this. This has been a core question for me for a long time: how can I bring my core work to the world while simultaneously inviting and invoking more and more sovereignty of the audience? I feel that holding it as an open question may be even more powerful than coming up with specific solutions, because it invites a growth path to become more and more authentic in my own development in the teaching role that can result in inviting far more sovereignty than just following certain practices could be.

Hi George! This is great.perspective on how pervasive this kind of marketing is. I've never liked the title 'thought leader.' It's always made me cringe. Why would I want to lead someone's thoughts? Maybe 'perspective offerer/opener' or something that sounds better. It reminds me also of the view, 'If it's good for me, it's good for others,' which doesn't take into account all of our unique differences. One of my favorite, longer programs was about uncovering and using intuitive skills. I remember the teacher saying, "I'm not after followers. I want to create peers." I always loved that. How to grow an audience without eroding their sovereignty? ........ Maybe sharing examples of methods, skills, things that have worked for us in specific situations, but without the promise it will also work for them, without the attempt to brand and elevate our method above other solutions. Inviting people to a perspective shift v. telling them to see it a certain way, our way. I'll unpause now.

Sonja! Great to see you here. (Just became one of your first subscribers.). Yes, good points re: thought "leadership" and being clear about how things have worked for us specifically and not meant to be the truth for everyone else.

I really loved this one George! Especially because you were talking about this cult like guru behaviour of many content creators out there. Personally I believe you used this term spot on and we need to talk more about this and uncover it. Great suggestions as well, I often have videos where the question is already in the title, because I want people to start thinking for themselves again and interact with me. Like you said, it takes longer and is the harder road and it's easy to get enticed into wanting a huge following, like others. So, this came at the right moment to reorient myself again. In general I have good interaction on my channel and it has been growing, slowly, but surely. Which I have in part to thank you and your approach to content creation for, because that for sure got me going and freed me. I've been posting consistently since nearly a year now and you were the inspiration for that. 🙏

Proud of you for continuing to create, Anja! I can see from your channel that some of your videos are regularly getting quite a few views... more than my videos anyway 🙌🏾😊

Thanks George! It is not only about authentic content but visibility. Even if i post ever week consistently, Facebook page don't have the same visibility as Facebook private profile. Same for Instagram and LinkedIn. So George how to get more visibility in social media without paying ads all the times?

George teaches a great class on Instagram marketing. You can boost a post for just a few dollars and it gets shown to like 1000 people.

That's a big question which I cannot answer in full here, but will share a few quick notes: Start where you have engagement - your FB profile is fine :) It's mostly about Quality (in the eyes of the audience)... really, things do spread if your content is giving what people want. Follow "the 3 Stages of content creation" -- search for my videos about it. Social media ads really does help. Collabs with other content creators who have a similar audience. Ultimately, it is about gradually growing your true audience... much of the stuff I talk about in my videos. Patience :)
