I was impressed with her book, which if pricey explains Bitcoin well, but I agree with Nigel that it is rather complicated and techy, and obliges the user to constantly use an electronic device to transact. It's preferable to the horrendous notion of Central Bank Digital Currencies, of course! On balance I would prefer to keep using cash. In fact, I go out of my way to use cash in shops now.

Cash is going away soon. Gold and silver is good but heavy and difficult to transport and exchange. Bitcoin is decentralised digital gold for the digital age we are going into. The old have to learn how to use it. They can use their bank account and cards. Bitcoin is no different. You can buy it on paypal atm.

When people ask me what i do or how i make my money i always say i trade crypto, and 99 times out of 100 people say to me 'ive heard that's a scam' it makes my laugh every single time

that already exists its called Paxos Gold. But has failed to gain any adoption as bitcoin is much more secure and requires trusting no third parties.

@@contemplating1015 one gets debased through money printing. The other is too volatile and not liquid enough to be practically used as money on a global scale. The energy expended in running the block chain also requires you to rely on a third party to supply it.

What do you mean by linked? Trade gold with bitcoins? To buy bitcoins you give dollars, British sterling or euro, and you get a code and a value of purchases! Goes up and down but you have no control over bitcoins!!

Perhaps you could explain to me what is fiat currency backed by in terms of how it attains its value and how can it just be printed out of thin air? Plus why every fiat currency ends up becoming worth less over time? What i don't get is why can't I buy BTC from a miner directly. Aren't exchanges exactly the thing crypto was supposed to circumvent? Binance will not register me unless I give the PHOTOS of my driving license. Both sides! And then I have to send a sperm sample. ok not that but everything else is true. I really want in but I can't trust giving away my personal ID in such powerful detail to hackable computers
