Just one day after the Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity, we're already seeing some of the consequences of the landmark decision. Today Judge Merchan announced that Donald Trump's sentencing in his New York criminal case will be delayed until at least September as Trump's attorneys argue the conviction should be thrown out. Yes, you're missing something. Paying people to not say things is common and not illegal. He was charged with writing 34 checks that had the expense mis-categorized. They used his Tweets and speeches as President as evidence in the trial. They're going to have to retry the case without this evidence. Nobody has been charged with insurrection. Trump's speeches would be given presumptive immunity as well, so he can't be charged for anything he says. There's a process for going after Presidents, its called impeachment. Allowing any DA or Assistant US Attorney to go after the official actions of presidents is a horrible idea.
