All you got to do is head north on PCH beyond Malibu. I've watched three different Chase's where the police and the News Chopper just quit chasing them

@@johndough201 The LAX trick doesn't work anymore. LAPD/LASD/CHP have coordinated a plan with LAX ATCs and LAX Police where they now allow choppers to fly in certain areas that were once restricted. News choppers won't be able to, but police choppers can. Plus, LAX Airport Police don't do tracking mode, they chase all night long.

There's something about the energy and vibrancy of LA that sticks with you even after you leave. I find myself tuning in to live car chases just to catch a glimpse of the city and hear the sound of choppers flying overhead. It's a small way to stay connected to a place that holds a special place in my heart.

For the sake of public safety the police cruisers made a conscious choice to not pursue at those speeds. They back off of vehicles that cross a threshold for speed/reckless, they don't want to be the sole reason a car is driving that reckless. Seems silly but it saves our tax dollars from being paid to a scumbag running from the law, getting hurt in a crash and the pursuing agency gets sued. Clockwork!
@EE9EER
@EE9EER Жыл бұрын
it is silly in the sense that every to most perp is using that bet as an advantage... all i have to do is go 100mph and cops will back up and just drive to any parking structure and go free... reoccurring pattern thanks to cali.

@@EE9EER I live in Los Angeles and I get to watch firsthand the amount of resources utilized during a high speed chase. In a matter of 5 minutes you can go from LAPD to CHP and then LASD and then into a city with their own police. And with those assets on the ground the possibility there is air support from at least LAPD, CHP and LASD. More and more cities are getting their own helicopters instead of asking LAPD or LASD to give air support. When someone runs here and pass the tolerance level of the pursuing agency they will back off because their are probably 3 law enforcement helicopters and 4 news helicopters. The pilots between the two groups talk to each other because the cameras on news helicopters are incredible. They zoom into a shot at the end of it's focal distance and then pull back and let you see you can't see the fleeing vehicle with the naked eye. I've seen them do just a 180° from chase to simply stopping and going back. It's rare but I've seen it, they've collected the info they want and they're done. I've also seen, I think, the longest pursuit in history, it was here and it was over 6 hour's long. There is a patrol car from every jurisdiction the chase went through because at the end, they all want their pound of flesh!
@user-gj1ld4uw9v
@user-gj1ld4uw9v Жыл бұрын
Their choice to back off didn't work. The driver being chased still engaged in reckless driving and put others on the road in danger.
@Mami_Loca
@Mami_Loca Жыл бұрын
I have to admit that broadcasting these chases, as exciting as they are to watch the "bad guys" get caught, is giving insight to the majority of strategies or tactics these law enforcement departments formulate when the driver hits those excessive speeds and/or is driving recklessly putting the public at risk. It's almost formulaic in what to expect or what the options are for the assailants when the pullback happens. I'm betting 80% of the time these offenders are watching their own chase as it happens knowing exactly what's going on IRL, they've been chatting with someone the entire time and can actually devise a plan if they get enough back-off space to pull off what happened today. Officers withdraw.....Chopper tracks....Driver finds parking structure of busy mall, apartments, business park, or runs into multi-plex apartments never to be found again. THE PEST CHECKED IN BUT HE NEVER CHECKED OUT.
