Ramon’s perspective about the concept of a savant reminds me of an Einstein quote: “Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, then it will believe for its whole life that it is stupid.”

But why you dont and he dont speak about being very very disabled too. Autism is that too.
@RamonSelove2 ай бұрын
@@4everpee I agree with that too. The secret to a successful life for people (autistic or not) is to accommodate the disabilities while leveraging the abilities.

"You will see us in the next one." Ever since the video where you explained why you say that instead of what a lot of other content creators say -"I'll/we'll see you in the next one" - every time I watch a video and someone says the latter, I always correct them out loud, because, ever since you explained your reasoning in that video long ago, it drives me insane whenever someone says the latter phrase.

Redarding Ramon’s final statement: nah i’m no savant. My brain doesn’t do anything amazing and that’s fine
@RamonSelove4 ай бұрын
It seems disrespectful to disagree with you, so I’ll try not to do that. However, I am not convinced by your statement. I still think “If you haven’t seen it, it’s because you haven’t seen it… It’s there.“

Everyone's good at something. I don't know if I agree with my dad that everyone is a savant, but everyone is good at something.

My kid is a math savant, but i doubt they consider themselves one. I have a quick question off topic. Do you know any autistics that have complete shutdowns (can't really move or communicate)? We are trying to get information on how to handle this new development in a 25 year old autistic. Thanks

@@webdancer101 i’ve had “complete shutdown“ quite a few times in my life. I classify them in two types for myself: One. Sometimes under extreme emotional strain, I get caught in a loop perseverating on something over and over and can’t really get out of it or communicate. I just have to be left alone until I come out of it myself. Usually after a sleep. Two. Sometimes I am so hyper focused on a problem that I’m trying to solve that I can’t communicate with anyone until I solve it. From the outside, both of these look to others, as if I am catatonic sometimes. But from inside, there is something going on. Sometimes it’s actually productive, but sometimes it really isn’t.

@RamonSelove Thank you for sending a reply, I really appreciate it and will pass on your information to my kid.

@@webdancer101 I would really like to see replies about this topic from other people with experience of it. Maybe I should try to convince Nathan that we should do an episode about it.

@@RamonSelove That would be amazing! It can become completely debilitating.
